BMW have just unveiled a UK first, the Ten Grand Scooter (TGS)
One TGS costs the same as four PCXs.
Can't wait to buy one if it's four times more economical, four times faster and generally four times better than a PCX

Oh well. That's a shame, I was sort of interested in the GT version, but not now. They won't sell many at prices like that, so they will have to drop the price to be competitive. I wonder what second hand prices will be like in 3 or 4 years.
Piaggio are bringing out a 500cc MP3 that you can ride on your driving license, I would guess this will be more appealing to many of the BMWs target market.

What an insane price point. £10,000 is ridiculous, you can buy many cars for less.

I was keen on one as well. Even been in touch with BMW dealer. But at that price, no way. Will have to look else where.

Ah yes, the Gilera GP800 with a dodgy makeover.
They struggled to sell those for £6500 so don't see the Aprilia version doing any better for a grand more.

Looks like they are breaking it for parts and just using the add to gather part interest.

I heard that those TGS BMW were made by Kymco. Do you guys know if that's true?.
OTOH, we already had TGS out there. Check what Yamaha charges for their T-Max.

Yes, the engines and many of the other components are made by Kymco.

Not the first time BMW uses such a trick, by the way. Their first X3 was made in Austria by Puch. I've never driven one, but I've sat and been driven in one, and IMHO, worst BMW ever made. The looks of the plastics of the dash are cheapish, and the ride is uncomfortable.
I can recall a +600 twin-cylinder scooter in Kymco global site. Perhaps that engine has to do with that one in BMW's TGS.

Most BMW dash quality and exterior panel fit is awful on their cars tbh. And I have a BMW. Audi is much better and has that feel good factor.

Again, I agree, qed. The "well made" BMWs ended with the E46, E39 series (and their 7 series which code I can't remember). I own a 2002 320Td, and it does look better better finished than an E90. Some guy called Chris Bangle is to be blamed.
Nevertheless, quality in German cars isn't was it used to be. Looks like at some point, they decided that their cars were overengineered and they stepped down in general quality. I've had no major problems with mine apart from a blown turbocharger at 75000kms and the clutch hub at 120000. The turbo cost 1000€ and the clutch kit 500€. No problems after that and she's now on the 200000 kms mark, but quite frankly, I was kind of pissed off at failures like that on a car of this price tag. Then you find out about a lot of other failures in Mercs and Audis and you realize that they aren't what their used to be. Nowadays, if you want reliability, you gotta buy a Japanese.
I have to say, though, that I absolutely love their new motorbikes, put aside these TGS.
