Hello all,
I have recently purchased a pcx in the UK and i am looking for a decent alarm system for the bike.
I am paranoid and have already purchased a ground anchor and heavy duty chain.
I would like to install an alarm system that detects motion, rocking etc
I am quite handy electrically so fitting it wont be a problem but id rather not dismantle the bike into millions of pieces at the same time!
What does everyone else have fitted and could anyone recommend a system compatible with the PCX

I got one of the cheepo remote alarms from eBay but took it off because it flattened the battery if I left it any more that a week without using it.
It worked ok though apart from that. It only had 2 wires to connect. It had a movement sensor in it.
Pretty basic but it was only £15 or something like that.

I will be using my bike every day so hopefully it wont flatten it.
Was it really sensitive? Did anything else trigger it off when it shouldnt of in the middle of the night?

It was a couple of years ago and I took it off as I didn't really use it due to the fact it usually sat either in a locked garage or a secure compound at work. I will have a look if I can find it.

It was similar to this. Very basic. It didn't seem to false alarm but I think this one is adjustable. They are really cheap so you can't really expect much. I just connected it straight to the battery terminals so an easy fit.

although i want it for my peace of mind and security alarms don't seem to have any bearing on the insurance cost when i search for prices

Depends which one you go for - Meta alarms are supposed to have zero drain when off, and Thatcham approved ones may give insurance discounts but they cost £100's. I can't remember the link or model now, but someone posted a youtube vid of an alarm off ebay costing less than $200 that detected someone getting near the bike with different warnings dependant on distance, and had a radio link so would alert the owner someone was near of tampering with their bike.
