Hello all!

Well I'm going to purchase a pcx shortly and thought I'd register in advance of this to say hello!

I am from the uk and am a beigner rider.

I am looking at purchasing/viewing a 2012 honda pcx 125cc in red in the coming days. It has under 500 miles on the clock.

I've done the usual finance check, stolen, write off etc and everything is fine.

Would I be able to get advice on what to look for when viewing he bike? It's being sold as new so what should I expect to be getting with the bike? (User manual and items under seat etc).

Any areas that I should pay particular attention to typical faults for example

Any help is greatly appreciated and I look forward to being part of the community in the very near future!

Welcome to the forum.

With under 500 miles on it - it shouldn't have ANY problems to be honest.

Make sure it has both books - the owners manual and the service book - it probably won't have even had its (important) first service (600 miles.) Check both keys are there too.

Enjoy! :)

Having done the 'finance check, stolen, write off etc and everything is fine' assume it's not a dealer sale but private, hence why your asking. Strange how a 2012 scoot only has 500 miles on it.

I think the bloke bought it with good intentions to use it but has only very rarely used it. He's selling it In as new condition so I dnt think anything is dodgy.

What's the deal with the 600 m service why is that so important? I'll have to get that den relatively soon I'm guessing.

Get down on the ground (with a torch/flashlight if needed) and look at the center stand mounts. They are a part of the engine block. See if they are cracked as this was a problem with the PCX125, although maybe not with the 2012. Check it just to be sure.

Mostly it seems due to the engine bedding in and oil contamination (little bits of metal or clumps of build up) and also for a new scooter, which may need slight adjustments or problems from the production line checking/sorting. Like all things, once past the new stage and not in the old clapped out stage, if lucks on your side all should be good. Although service's should be kept up as per the manual, even if you do them yourself - oil change, filter clearout, air filter, spark plug, belt, etc - and tyres!

Warranty might be an issue the manual says 600 miles or 6 months. I recently bought PCX 125 off a dealer with 251 miles on the clock. It was serviced at 6 months and 243 on the clock. I would suggest that if it looks ok no signs of being dropped it will be a good buy. Now at 650 miles and brilliant scoot. Welcome to the forum. Apart from books check it has two keys and the little key tab on with the key number (a little metal plate on the ring of one key). Above all the bike when u have got it.
