safe mode?

has anybody heard of a safe mode if the engine gets hot? i was haulin down the highway (70-75) never hit the limiter but suddenly i started to loose massive amounts of speed so i got off the highway as fast as possible. it was idling what seemed fine, so i shut it down for a minute. then, when i started it back up the red temp light was on so i let it cool for a couple minutes, maybe two or three, started it again and no light. seemed just fine trying for 70 on any slight gradient. so im thinking it was a bubble for the light to come on, but that wouldn't explain the power loss do these scoots have a high heat safe mode?

I didn't experience this, but I would advise you to not shut down the engine. It is water cooled, so if you leave it in idle, water pump will pump the coolant and ensure better cooling.

I was just figuring if its something bad leak blockage something it would be better to shut it down also to test see if light would come back on

You got your PCX up to 70 mph? The most I was able to get it was 60 mph and that was with the wind to my back. 50-55 mph is all I can get mine up to. Although I am a big person.

Strange. Unfortunately, without a temp probe, there's not really any way to tell. I haven't heard of a "safe mode."

Last time this happened to me (with another bike), I blew a head gasket and coolant got in the oil. Check your oil, make sure it's still good.
