Paintwork and Warranty

Heya

So I bought my PCX new just over a year ago.

I quickly worked out it was costing more in servicing than fuel and started to service it myself.
10K has now passed and It's had a new belt, plug, filter, a pair of tyres, 4 oil changes, 2 brake adjustments and 1 valve clearance check (It was fine btw)

The issue I'm having now is that one of my plastic panels is discolouring.

It was a white pearlescent, but the gloss has gone and this one panel now appears matt white.

So given that I should have spent £600-700 on servicing this year but didn't. Do I have any comeback on a warranty claim?

It's not like they service the panels

That's odd that it discolored so quickly. Do you store it outside uncovered? You doing maintenance yourself won't affect warranty claims if you're in the USA. YMMV in other countries.

Luckily, new body panels can be ordered for relatively cheap. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/H ... parts.html

You can find them on ebay too.

A good buff up with some cutting compound and a coat of a good carnauba wax it should clean up ok. I would try this before visiting the dealer or they might say it's been neglected to get out of a claim. If it's cleaned with a detergent it will take any polish off the panels and may go flat.

You'll get no joy on a warranty claim for deterioration of finish.
The warranty only applies if function is impaired.
