One thing I've noticed since I started riding the PCX is that the roads around here are nowhere near as smooth as I thought they were.

You'll find that they get smoother as your subconscious starts to learn where the potholes are and steers you around them.

The roads I commute on are either in need of re pavement or are under re construction. There are only two seasons were I live, winter and construction.
So far I have not had any issues with ride comfort, the PCX 150can soak up mild bumps and small potholes with no problems. The bigger ones you can easily avoid, the PCX 150 is super nimble and you can avoid them with out any effort. The PCX150 is my first scooter and so far its everything I have expected of her and more.

I feel the same way. It's my first scooter as well so I have no comparison (never had a moped or motorcycle either), but I find it very nimble and comfortable. I know there are way to improve it, like seat and shock replacements, but I don't have the need for those yet.

We quickly changed out our original seat for one from Thailand and added a windscreen. Those changes made all the difference in the world. Now it is not only nimble, but also much more fun.

The rear suspension is seriously lacking. I will one day get a YSS shock for my PCX. It's bouncy with my light weight on it, especially with all the crappy roads around here. Downtown Atlanta is nuts, construction everywhere. It doesn't help that I ride it on sidewalks and through parking lots though. The front suspension is fine.

Either way, consider how tiny the PCX is. It'll never handle bumps as well as something large, it just can't because there's not enough mass to soak up the blow of a pothole.

Are these YSS shocks only available outside the US?

GN2 is right. Once I figured out the ride is not the same as my old Harley with air suspension (didn't take long), my path down the road is more judicious.

i have the same shocks and it is the best mod you can do to the PCX, IMOl the stock shocks are shockingly bad!

Said it before...a Tempting mod. Those like myself with bad backs would appreciate an upgrade to rear shocks. The Yss won't be the full Monty of satisfaction (can't get no ) but a tad better than our stock. Agree with Dave, our scoots are low in mass/weight so we can't expect a cushie ride.

I would love to buy some YSS or other aftermarket, but they seem insanely pricy in the old US of A. And shipping from the online places was as much as the shocks. Hopefully someone will stock them here.

I don't find the rear shocks that bad. The front could do with slightly stiffer springs and heavier damping oil?
