A window got blown it at my work, just missing a CL500 by inches. Luck we were closed for the holidays and nobody was in.

How strong were the winds? Was there much damage to property in your area in general? We went through a bad windstorm 5 years ago that sent a huge fir tree into our house and left the neighborhood without power for 10 days during some freezing cold temperatures. Terrifying experience, and I pay much more attention to wind advisories/warnings/watches now. Glad to hear that your company was closed and no one was hurt!

In Scotland many places saw gusts up to 90mph.
All train services were cancelled and bridges were closed to traffic.

Hope when I get back to work tomorrow every window has been blown in so I get sent home. :D

We were lucky in the North East of England gusts only reached 50mph - and that's bad enough.

Some amazing images and I was really surprised to see so much collapsed masonry. I hope that things are cleaned up quickly, and that power is restored.

That's INSANE! Can you even go outside right now, or are you stuck in from the wind?

I'm a bit late with this but there was a gust recorded at 111mph at Great Dun Fell in the North Penines, Cumbria, during this period - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?client=sa ... CBAQ_AUoAg zoom in to see the station.
