OK, Our Test finally got cut short this morning around 7:15 AM by Rain, but here are the "basic results". My Buddy, Otis owns my Wife's PCX125 that She used to have, so we took em' down to the Motlow Community College this morning with Three Other Motorcycle Friends to do some "Run Off Racing".

Otis and I took turns on each Scooter, and here are the comparisons.....

*** We left Tullahoma, and rode straight Hwy 130 for 3.5 miles to get there with pegged Throttles...the 150 arrived almost 1 minute ahead of the 125

*** 0 to 60 MPH took 46 to 53 feet longer to reach for the PCX125

*** Drag Race on 1/8th mile (measured off with a Gold Wing), PCX150 won by 36 to 41 feet

*** Chestnut Ridge Climb (5% grade) with both Scooters side by side hitting the Hill at 50 MPH, and checking cresting speed...PCX125: 39 to 41 MPH.....PCX150: 53 to 55 MPH......The PCX150 wins this one hands down. It actually gained speed on the climb, something that's virtually impossible for a PCX125 to do on long climbs

Full Top Speed still goes to the PCX150, but it's all of the Other Catagories (Acceleration, Throttle Response, Climbing, Maintaining Speed) that it really outshines the PCX125 in....These are the really "useable traits" that matter to most Riders while around Town or taking Trips.....

Because I asked myself few times if why to wait for 150, when 125 was immediatelly available and more, with a 450 euro discount. Finally, as you test prouve for real benefits, I am glad with my choice.

You're Welcome.....having spent over 10,000+ miles on a PCX125, and now, over 2000 miles on a PCX150, I knew for sure there were fairly major differences, but have wanted to do an actual "shootout" with Them. The opportunity arose yesterday afternoon as I left Otis from a Traffic Light in Winchester, Tennessee. We pulled into the Wal Mart Parking lot to discuss it. While there, my Other Motorcycle Buddies turned in after seeing me parked, so an "Idea" was put into play.....the results were pretty much as I expected.....

As one of the depressingly slow 125 riders here, what's the mpg difference between the 2?

Tbh they are both slow. It's a question of degrees

I traded in my piece of crap Kymco for my PCX 150 in April. I did not know there was a 125 so I think I got lucky, based on all the info that I've seen and read. my 150 took my small riding experience a step further in the comfort and fun level. the Buddy 150 was twitchy with smaller tires and the 150 PCX outshines it by a mile. thanks for posting the comparison, Skuuter. I wish I had been there. I bet it was a fun morning.

The PCX125 isn't slow. It's the fastest 125 I've ever ridden, it beats the Buddy, Zuma, Vino etc. Of course it can't hang with the 150, it's not supposed to. If you're happy with 60 mph or a bit faster then the 125 will make you happy. I ride my wife's 150 as well, but it doesn't make mine any less fun. 28 cc more is going to be noticeable. You can't go wrong with either one

Ill tell you a little secret to ya all....Upgrade the vario on 125 and itll be as quick or quicker than stock 150...Dont believe me?!
Check out some of my youtube vids of 0-60 acceleration times of when it was still 125 but with vario upgrades.To compare that just search for 150 0-60 times and you will see the diff.. 125 isnt slow and has lot of potential to gain a lot with very little spending on it to improve its performance while not affecting fuel economy. In saying that 150 will perform even better with same mods..

In terms of top speed it very definitely is, but for making progress through heavy traffic it is absolutely outstanding.

On reflection during my commute this morning, riding skill and experience counts for a lot for speed in urban riding. I got burnt off uphill by someone this morning on his 1000cc sports bike, but due to superior handling of my 125 and lane swapping, I still got to our (as it transpired) common destination about 5 miles later, just ahead of him. He wasnt too happy about it!

True as it gets....Rider Skill and Experience always wins out in both Speed and Safety.....

This is not a "Bash the PCX125 Thread" by any means. Since I kept my PCX125 for over 10,000+ miles, I was very happy with it. Great Scooter, and I still like the 125s. This is just an honest comparison of the two, and much more interesting and factual when there is access to one of each to do it "shootout style". Personally, I think Folks that take extended Trips will get more gain from the PCX150, because of encountering long climbs, mountains, etc. along the way, helping Them save some Travel Time. Commuters, and "Around Town Mostly" Riders will notice minimal differences. Gas Mileage is about the same for Both Scooters...there again, I get better mileage with the 150 on long Rides than I got with the 125 (about 2 to 4 MPG better), as a Commuter, slightly better with the 125 over the 150, again about 2 to 4 MPG better.

A PCX is a PCX...Honda's Finest (in my opinion) Scooter to date, and I've owned All of Them from the Ruckus through the Silver Wing. Don't be surprised after I get the Forza 300s in though that I prefer Them over the PCX...If all the "hype" is true, the Forza, due to my Long Distance Trip Riding, will most likely pan out to be my "Personal Pic" as Honda's finest ever Scooter....we'll see... ..."but"...Our Garage has never been without a PCX in it ever since Honda released it, and will still remain so...the PCX is a keeper here, and that says a lot.....

The USA only gets a small selection of the full range.
The PCX is good but its not a patch on the FES125/150

Me: 5' 7" - 168 lbs..........Otis: 5' 6" - 176 lbs........we also didn't have time to unload my 20+ lbs of "On Road Goodies" like Full Tool Kit, Slime Air Compressor, Flat Repair Kit, GPS, Maps and Holder Pouch, Rain Gear, Hat, Jacket Liner, and 45 ltr GIVI Case.....the PCX125 had the Case popped off and empty......

Good info -- the PCX 150 is definitely the one to go with if you're buying a new one.

The mpg difference is negligible -- if anything the 150 does better. The 150 is built with eSP technology, so it actually sometimes gets BETTER mpg than the 125.

I get 150cc instead of 125cc(it was cheapper with about 500 euro) because a I wheight 105 kg=260 lb and I belive will be better to the accelerations, knowing both models are limited to the speed of 100 km/h.
Until now I get the following results:
0-200 km........mileage=90
200-300 km.....mileage=107
300-500 km.....mileage=119 .....maximum speed was 65 km/h; was 200 km round-a-trip in other town on the national road with two lanes on direction.
Let see what will be after more kilometers (or mileage).

Anyway, a have a pleased surprise that the PCX in more economical that Yamaha Neos 4T 49 cc, new model from Yamaha issued into 2009 (2.3-2.5 L/100 km). What I got with PCX is 2.0L/100KM, what is surprinsing me!
