My wife wants my PCX150 - OH NO!

Last September I purchased two Scooters for both mine and my wife's birthday presents. One PCX150 and one Metropolitan. I thought this will be so much fun riding around town together as we could do this for years to come

I bought the PCX ( for me obviously :D ) thinking I would ride back and forth to work as it is approx 25 miles each way. HOWEVER, to my surprise my wife REALLY WANTS A PCX! I know this is good news (actually great news) but I need to sell the Metro before I spend another roughly 4k on the PCX.

ANYWAYS, I thought you guys might get a kick out of this and I would let you join in my agony every time we go riding and she gives me "THE LOOK"! I know you married folks know exactly what I am talking about

Let me know if anyone else has made this "unfortunate" decision too?

Excellent news.
Once you trade her Metropolitan in against your new Forza, the wife can have your PCX.
Everyone's a winner.

Seriously?? That's the best you guys could come up with?? Let her ride the PCX ("Baby, it's yours. I just want you to be happy.") THEN, trade off the Met to get what you want.

Do NOT divulge the plan ahead of time. Heck, ride the Met for a short bit. A small price to pay for you to come across as chivalrous... AND get what you want.

Win-win... you are a good guy, AND you get the PCX, Forza, or whatever turns your fancy. Tell her she's getting the "hand-me-down" PCX, and you don't come off nearly as well.

I've been married for over 40 years - this ain't my first bar-b-que. ;)

You're welcome.

I actually understand EXACTLY what you're going through -- except in my case, it's my 18 yr-old son. I purchased a 50cc Zuma for his most recent birthday, and then decided to go back and get one for me. Instead, I ended up buying the PCX -- and I love the bike. Unfortunately, so does he. He USUALLY doesn't mind riding his Zuma, but if we go out together, I need to make sure I keep it between 40-45, so he can keep up, and I feel guilty having bought myself the bigger bike. I now wish I had at least purchased him the Zuma 125, rather than the smaller 50. He rides well, passed motorcycle school, etc...

But, for now, I can't justify replacing his bike when I can't get anywhere near what I paid for it, and don't really want to spend the additional for his upgrade.

In the meantime, I do let him ride mine, once in awhile -- especially if he has a date and needs to impress beyond the small scoot.

If he's 18 he's an adult and should be working and buying his own bike.
Do you still wipe his arse as well?

Captain Jim - I was laughing so hard when i read your post last night. Really great stuff! Of course my wife was in the same room and asked what was so funny o_O

I went ahead and let her read the thread and she thought it was great. I know I let the cat out of the bag a little early, but it was too entertaining to pass up.

Needless to say, when I mentioned the Forza ;) I got another "LOOK" from her!

Will see how it goes when the Forza gets to the Honda dealers...

OK, I'm trying to help you here (JIm's Boat Captaining and Marriage Counseling Emporium), but you have to keep this to yourself.

Next step: "I considered buying you a Forza, but it is nearly 150 pounds heavier than the PCX... I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself. (Notice: concern AND reasoning) Then, I came to the best solution: you really like the PCX, and that is the perfect size for you, so that should be yours. If I get the Forza, it will be even better for the times we want to ride two-up and do some snuggling, but still the perfect riding companion to the PCX. What do you think?"

Then, do NOT blow her doors off when riding together.

You're gonna show this to her again, aren't you?

;)

You're very good at this Jim, much better than my standard marital guidance to men which is just two simple words: "yes dear".
The really tricky bit is saying it like you mean it.

Captain - I really like the Forza idea, but I would have to wait at the very least to late summer and that doesn't even guarantee getting one quickly with the limited supply they will have. Afew steps have to happen before I could pull the trigger and one is selling the Metro, but I do not want to do that until I KNOW I HAVE SOMETHING COMING as we wouldn't be able to ride together and that is the biggest reason we got the scooters in the first place

I know you are thinking I could just trade it in when the Forza gets here, BUT I don't want to lose the money I already put into it ( taxes, etc.) and the dealer will most likely only offer $1300 - $1500. I could probably sell it at roughly $2000.00 as it has only 100 mikes on it. However, not until I can get a replacement.

Any ingenious thoughts? :|

I'm a relationship counselor, not a used bike salesman. ;)

Kidding aside, visit with the dealer - you never know what the offer will be until you get the offer. If it isn't what you hoped for, then post something here and CL. There is something to be said for moving the scoot quick to get the next one. And, until it sells, you still have two scooters.

You can't say that to the 'does my bum look big in this' type of question
