I Think I have every album of theirs...Now in CD format, but they are still a favorite when I am down in my shop tinkering away. A few years back I converted all of them to mp3 (320 kps) and put them on my iPod classic, so now I don't need a CD player down there among the grease and sawdust.

So it is about that time again. I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday.

Another Christmas is fading into history. . .another will soon breech the horizon and steadily approach.

Live in the now. . .. Grab joy as it flies by. ;)

We have a daughter who lives in California and her motto seems to be "Live in the now". She works in the movie industry...who doesn't out there... and is now over 40. She has no money in the bank, no 401k, no house, but she has one heck of a wardrobe, including lots of leather goods. Yep, live in the now...Then when you can no longer find employment you can beg for all of that from your relatives. After all, you had a 30 year vacation and "lived in the now".

If I had it all over again maybe I'd try to marry a good looking rich woman who owned a Pizza place, had a Vespa, and insisted that to have a happy life one must ride every NOW and THEN no matter what!

But I know what you mean. . .. ;)

There's an interesting book that will bend your brain. . .but in a good way. "The Power of Now". Here's a video featuring the author. :geek:

Somehow things work out in the end. Best to live responsibly in the NOW of course but then again this life isn't a rehearsal for a show. . .it is the show. 8)

NOW that I'm retired I sadly discovered that having all this time off never seems to get any better than what it felt like in my careers to get a two week vacation. One week to forget the job. . .another week to get on with what I really like doing. :D

Hang onto your hat. . .New Years is on the horizon.

The best thing about retirement is getting to sleep in. However, once I am up, there are a world of things that I want or need to do. I think I am busier now than when I was working, though I can do it all on my own schedule...and that of my wife's.
Believe me when I say that the 'Honey-do' list never gets any shorter.

I'm finding that the ritual has changed since I've retired.

Nonetheless it is a ritual.

I seem to get up much earlier, with no alarm, and catch the early news often before 6:00AM while having breakfast.

Naps? Oh yeah. . .naps are good!

Weeks almost pass like days. . .light dark light dark light dark and so it goes.

The schedule gets filled with all kinds of futzing chores and by the time you get up to stride it's going for after 3:00PM. And as the old saying goes, 3:00PM is always too late or too early for anything you want to do.

BTW FWIW I actually started to fall asleep in the middle of that Power of Now video I posted above. The guy is a far out genius but talks real slow . . . almost like he's waiting for someone to translate.

Not retired yet but from what I hear from friends who are retired, they don't know where they used to find time to go to work they are so busy now that they are retired.

Speaking of finding time, they say that time goes by faster as we get older. My theory is that we move slower, therefore where we used to be able to get five or six things done in a day, we now only get two or three things done and then we say, "Wow, where did the time go, the day is done already!"

Your answer is Close. Very close. I find that it takes me much longer to do things, and if I am in my shop in the basement, time just goes by. I have no clock down there so I am usually surprised when my wife tells me it is dinner time. I have a computer on one side of my shop and a workshop on the other...with the bikes in between. There are always things to do down there. Fix things, look up things, work on ideas, etc. It is like my own little world.

But I just do things in slow motion now. :(

Great Santa cartoon!

It's almost across from the "Bird Watchers General Store" and just down the road from the famous "Lobster Claw" restaurant at Orleans, Cape Cod.

These pics may help. . ..
