I don't mind them reading under a bit. There less chance of getting speeding tickets.
There are loads of speed cameras in Edinburgh and the surrounding region.

I agree...under reading the speed is not a problem to me...but!!.when our all wise SNP Govnt reduce our speed limits to 20mph we will be creeping along at 17/18mph!...maybe a good thing?

I like the speedometers to read EXACT speed, then I can just decide how much I want to exceed or not... If the speed is off 10 % , I just do the correction in my head every time I look at it, I am not that easily fooled.

Just like some people setting the clock 10 minutes ahead, it would never make me earlier for anything, I would just translate instantly in my head and know the exact time. So I like things exact and save myself having to do constant corrections for bad information.

On a brighter note, people here in Miami speed + 20 to + 30 MPH all the time, and never get a ticket. Lots of people, and cops are busy with real crime...

Yeah, I could absolutely buy that, given all the regulations and absolute control Europe lives under, I believe that manufacturers could be doing some like that intentionally in that market only.

We don't live under absolute control in Europe? It's lots of different countries you know.

Europe lives under "absolute control"...really?.( and the conclusion drawn from our bike speedos reading 5%/10% higher than reality!...)
I got up this morning and went for my paper and didnt need to ask anyones permission.....now looking forward to watching the Ryder Cup...again no requirement to seek permission ( apart from the wife!)..Think you may be mixing up Europe with some other places.

Hahaha, No I did not draw that conclusion just from bikes speedometers, but it is no surprise, stuff like not even being able to tell you your exact speed is expected when government gets to much control of everything. Honda absolutely has the technology to make the speedos VERY ACCURATE, that is easy, and they are accurate here in the USA... I could give you a very long list of socialist control you live under in Europe, but I cant... Given the rules of the forum, Europe's regulations relating to bikes is about all we are allowed to talk about ;)

the most i have ever got is 69mph, that was based on the GPS app "My Tracks" navigation, where you can look at your top, average and runing time etc....

I do find however that my bikes speedometer is about 5mph too happy... if that makes sense... 35mph on the speedo is actually 30 in the real world...the 5mph deficit seems to reduce the faster i go though,.....weird!

So I spent the last few weeks trying to decide which bike to get and as going round and round and round in circles... hand on heart I would get a BMW 650 Sport but, including a top box the price would have been 11.5k #ridiculous so I then settled on a new Burgman 400, but, there are new EU4 regulations about to apply (from Jan 1st 2017) so there is no stock of the existing models in dealers local to me in London, and the new EU4 version won't be available until April/May, so I went back to the Forza... it is the one I probably feel most comfortable on, it suits ALL my needs (daily commuting/filtering in and out of Central London, speed/power for short motorway trips, and I think enough speed and power for an occasional longer motorway trip (2hrs London-Birmingham) - I feel like I have researched this extensively, when I drive on the motorway I generally sit around 75mph, and only go up to 80mph for overtaking and then revert to 75mph, so I think the Forza will suit me just fine. I'm a medical student and have to carry around lots of diagnostic kit and changes of clothes for the various clinics I work in, so the storage capacity was a very important factor, especially with a top box too. I hear the Forza is likely to be discontinued by all accounts, so I am going to grab one within the next week, went to local dealer yesterday and got p/x value for my current scoot, and now just deciding on colour. I'm going to add the Touring Pack - so taller windscreen, 45l top box and heated grips.

Might be worth waiting for a look at the new Xmax 300...?
But... if you need something now, maybe consider buying used.
There are also Euro3 Burgman 400s at good prices available from dealers oop north which they will deliver to your door for a modest fee.

If buying a Forza, be cautious of the Honda touring pack.
You can probably get better after market kit for less money.
e.g Shad SH39 box, Puig/Givi screen and Oxford heated grips.
The Honda heated grips are shite, the Puig and Givi screens have hand deflectors built in and the Shad 39 box looks far better and uses a separate key which is A Good Thing.

For the longer motorway trips the Forza is perhaps a little underpowered, and the only colour you should consider is white, tis more visible and faster.

Thanks for the tips, I think I'm happy with my decision now. I want to buy local so I can build up a relationship with the dealer (I bought my last 3 bikes from one dealer over the last 7 yrs and they knew me well and really looked after me - unfortunately they don't sell hondas so time to buy from somewhere else but would like that same kind of relationship) - and I don't think I'll be buying white, I couldn't face having to clean it all the time! #silver

Silver...?
Grey.

You don't need to clean a white one, just leave it outside in the rain.
