I got a reply from Japan! Look on this page, it seems to be much more reasonable than the Korean guy.

^ Looks like just a spring too, not a whole hinge replacement.

Taz wrote:I cant see the point. I wouldnt want it popping up when steering is on handle bar lock as would knock my mirrors and when I am getting ready to ride in the rain I like to keep seet down as much as possible to stop rain getting inside. This pop up thingy seems impractical.
When the handle bar lock is on the seat won't remain upright when lifted unless you hold it there. With the spring loaded hinge it would make it possible to get in the storage compartment with both hands to put things in and take them out. To prevent the seat from knocking the mirrors, just catch it on the way up and let it rest easy against the mirror.

I found in YouTube these videos about the auto seat kit for the "generation 1" PCX, and it's a pity that these conversions are so expensive... if the manufacturer could offer it for a lower price, they would sell a ton! ;)

Problem is that the seat doesn't stay down unless its locked.
Not good if its raining and you need to quickly get things in and out while trying to keep the storage space dry.

Yes, you and I (specially you, living in Scotland ;) ) have this problem, but those living in dryer zones/countries perhaps could be interested in these hinges, but being so expensive...

Fortunately I'm on the east coast so the rainfall here is nothing like as bad as other parts of Scotland.
