After reading that article I still had one question on my mind. The biggest factor in murders in New York City has been guns. Just about every gangster wanna be in that city knows that having a gun brings respect, or so they believe. Getting a gun illegally seems to be easy there. Almost every murder in NYC is with a gun.
At the same time, everyone has heard that guns are outlawed in the UK. Therefore, there is a good chance that most of those murders were done with something other than a gun.

Knowing this, how did it ever get to a point in London where murder rates could even be compared with those of NYC?
(From 6 to 11 bullets for a single gun vs 1 knife).

The Independent, oh my. They'd have their throats cut that they'd thank Allah. Big fans of
Cat Stevens the jihad convert, by the way.

It's a blip in the stats. Over last year the murder rate in NYC was twice that of London.

Besides, we do have some illegal hand guns in hidden circulation. Fortunately not available enough for toddlers to be able to accidentally shoot their parents or siblings.

No mention of Cat Stevens in the article, so you needn't worry with your bias.

Euh...does 'worrying with one's own bias' make any sense ??

I mentioned Yussuf the jew hater hoping to get fanboy Whitenoise involved, wicked me ( his 'miles
from nowhere' slogan/mantra makes me throwup).

I was rereading some of the threads and had and idea. How much of a jolt would a thief get if you hooked your scooter's battery to a strip on the seat (or a couple of strips) with a 30 second timer. When you get on your scooter you turn off the timer by way of your ignition switch itself. Thieves bypass the ignition, which means the timer will still work. Thirty seconds after they get on the bike they will get the full force of 12 volts in the nut sack! I bet they won't steal your bike again.

Good going New York! Maybe I will consider revisiting your city some day...NOT!!

We have more than our fair share of New Yorkers who have moved down here to Atlanta, and they are some of the most obnoxious, rude and aggressive people I have ever met.

Just yesterday I was following a friend as he drove his car over to his mechanic. We were passing a Starbucks entrance on our right when suddenly a Mercedes SUV with New York plates charged up on our left at a high rate of speed, and then turn right (between our cars) to get to the Starbucks entrance, missing both of our cars by inches!

The driver could have stayed behind us and just turned in like normal drivers...or, go to the next entrance, which is 1/2 block away. Our insurance rates in our area are skyrocketing because of this type of driving.

I have also seen them cut in line because they were in a hurry, like the rest of us were not in as much of a hurry as they were. To me, there is no excuse for rude behavior. Maybe the crime rates in New York City are going down because those types of people are moving away...Just saying :-/

Talking of insurance - I just got my insurance renewal through and shocked with the new quote - £200 third party with four years no claims! (started out at £100, but as the years have gone on and my bike riding experience with no claims got better, my insurance keeps going up). Time to look around again.

Another "off topic," topic placed in the wrong board of the forum(s)....

.....please Everyone pay attention to where topics are being created/written and placed.
Recently I have been seeing more and more threads misplaced. Perhaps Miscellaneous is easier for one to recall than Off Topic? I Don't know :|

This topic has also drifted into touchy areas - think forum rules folks, be careful.

Yes aguim, I'm reading along.
I Love all kinds of Music. I formed a band in my teens. I sang lead, played guitar. I grew up with Cat Stevens and many many other GREAT Artist's. I sang their songs.
Feel the way You feel, your prerogative. That there reminds me...of Bobby Brown. Do I like that man? No. But I Still like his song:

"My Prerogative"

My advice, don't read "those words" at the base of my posts, the ones that made you "throw up." Ignore. Why inflict self illness? What a horrible way to spend your time. Feel Better.

I wish you good health, love and happiness. "Here, There and Everywhere."

As said above, Mel ^^^ It's the Daily Mail a vile, hate-spouting liar of a newspaper.

Whatever you read that has the Daily Mail as its source, always do a fact check.
