Unfortunately there are far too many aggressive drivers out there, some even riding motorcycles. I watched an accident the other day at an intersection in which the left turning vehicles had the green arrow. I don't know how it is in other areas, but around here there is a 4 second delay between the red light of one and the green light of the other. That way cars can't jump the light and argue the point in court. Well, this housewife in a minivan had the green arrow so she pulled into the intersection slowly, making her left turn. One second later a BMW t-boned her at around 50 mph, right in the driver's door! She would have had that green light for at least 6 seconds, plus the fact that the red light would have been red for the default 4 seconds as well. That means the BMW ran the light that had been red for 10 seconds already. That is what we have to watch out for around here.

So true. It's always been dangerous, but it's a whole new world now with smartphones in driver's hands. Gotta be extra alert.

Not only aggressive and distracted (texting) drivers they are legalizing the use of marijuana which in many cases can alter driving behavior and judgement. Of course its illegal to drive under the influence but legalizing another intoxicant only adds to the problems we already have on the roads.I know its controversial , and not being "for" or "against" in this post but just stating a fact that the more mind altering shit we give the populous the more accidents can be expected and only increases the chance of fatalities for two wheelers. Have to be super defensive, always alert, and take no chances, don't trust ohers , and expect the worst at all intersections, and then possibly with some luck we may survive ?

FWIW the whole problem comes down to competition for space on our nation's highways. Those who are spaced need more space but the government can't afford to provide more space because there is not enough space in their budget. Maybe they'll make space for debate about it next year. . ..

Space..you have a point there.. in America the powers want to spend billions of dollars for a wall that will be defeated by going up, over ,under and around and at the same time every city at 4:00PM is at a stand still in traffic grid lock, our sewers and bridges are falling down, and roads are full of pot holes but we have $ for pet political projects , one of the reasons space is not in the government budget as you mentioned.Makes you wonder doesn't it ???

The latest is it's going to be a solar wall. Hope nobody throws stones at it. . .that would be counterproductive.

Thanks for sharing that accident. It was educational. The poor guy had a clear lane. The guy turning through that lane decided to just go for it, rather than creep up inch by inch to make sure. People are SUCH bad drivers. So selfish.
