Thanks so much for posting this. I'm not a new rider, but I've never encountered this situation. It makes perfect sense, now that you describe it!
I've been riding motorcycles since 2000 and scooters since about 2006, so it's not necessarily a warning just for noobs. Also for people who live in an area without any hills.
