So happy you are back. Looking forward to the new stories,I have several bikes and a vespa and still think the pcx is the most fun of them all. Enjoy your project and also, great to hear about the family. Best of thoughts

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
I managed to get the oil screen bolt off with an impact gun and did the oil change. The oil was scary! :O It looked nasty, and was definitely years old.
Now that it's operational, I've been on a few quick around-town. It's cold and wintry here though, so nothing too exciting.

I don't plan on modding this PCX much at all. I don't think I'll do anything other than fix it, add windshield, and upgrade the seat. I hope it all comes in soon, I'm looking forward to a full teardown, cleanup, and reassembly.

Are you keeping the V-Strom?

Sounds like White isn't a very popular color. . . just kidding. Good luck with it!

Nope, it's going bye-bye.
I got the V-Strom because I needed it to take long trips, and as a result, never rode the PCX anymore. Now that I'm a dad, there's no time for motorcycle trips since my son can't reach the pegs, so I always take the truck for long trips... So the V-Strom will likely get sold, since it is sitting just as badly as my first PCX was when I sold it. No sense for a bike to rot in the garage, they're designed to be ridden!

I will miss that V-Strom, it was absolutely great, and I had tons of fun trips on it, but it'll be at least another 10 years before I can take long motorcycle trips again. I'll probably buy a used Honda Africa Twin around 2030 or so, assuming we're still even using gasoline then.

Mel (Mel46) dropped off a windshield for me to use, since he had a spare. I washed the bike off finally. It took about 2 hours, there was actually mildew growing on it. Anyways, here's the PCX fresh and clean! I know it's the same as every other white gen1 PCX on here, but she's mine, and I'm proud of her.

When I was washing the PCX, I noticed even more panels with cracks or damage.

It doesn't show in the pictures, but the front fairing has a big scuff on the right, both lower fairings need replaced, and a few inner panels have damage. This PCX has had a tough life, but at least she runs like a top! I might ask my wife for a set of red fairings for my birthday, I like my toys in red. At the same time, we all know white is the fastest color, so I'm still torn.

In either case, she's for riding, not looking at, so I'm just glad to have a PCX in my garage again.

I've often wondered what a PCX would look like with some red and blue panels mixed in to give it the Tri-Colour theme. But I've not seen royal blue panels for the OWL.

I see that you are trusting it on the center stand. I rarely use mine just as a precaution.

White is indeed a good color for the PCX and I would definitely choose that before a grey or titanium kind of color that would blend into traffic and be less visible.
That being said what's wrong with using the center stand? I use it on my 49cc all the time when I start it. Sometimes the rear wheel will spin when the engine is warming up and I wait until it stops spinning before I move on. I foolishly started it on the side stand one time when I thought it would be OK but I was sadly mistaken. It cost me a new rear brake lever but other than that I lucked out. Is there something about the PCX center stand that makes it go back up too easy or something?

The original 2010/11 PCX 125s had an issue with the centre stand castings cracking or breaking off.

Dave, you can always come over and look through my spare stuff to see if you can use any of it. For some reason I even have a spare Givi Tailbox base, without the part that bolts on between the bike and it. I don't know where I got it.... and I have a spare red panel.

Thanks Mel! I think I'm going to go with no topbox for now.
Mark, I actually need to remove the centerstand. It's on my to-do list. I'm used to it from my V-Strom, and haven't gotten out of the habit of using it yet. Last thing I want to do is break another crankcase like I did on my first PCX.
