Major T.E. Lawrence on his Brough Superior.
His death was instrumental in the creation of the crash helmet.

They were always in the USA bike mags when I was a kid and looked cool. Never ever seen one in the flesh.

Well double you, we had one rotting away in the shed until about 20 years ago or so.
It originally had a metal tank and red frame, but dad put a yellow plastic long range tank on it for some reason.
As a kid I always preferred dad's Honda and Kwaka dirt bikes that came right after it. Purely on looks mind you.

I am trying to remember the 70'same. Gee, that was a long time ago. I had a Honda 500 back then. It was a very, very nice bike. The Triumph was a good bike back then too, except that the aluminum pan was a problem if you hit something in the road. I had a few friends that punctured theirs in various ways. In one case he lost control and slip sideways into a brick wall. The shifter went I to the case and we had to call a friend with a pickup truck to get it home. The rider was fine, aside from scrapshipping and some bruises. They didn't stop as fast as they went...unless you hit a brick wall. :-/
