What mods did you do to allow it to reach 79 mph?

I'd bet that the stock 2015 would out run the 2013 until the speed reached 63 mph, when to 2013 would keep gaining speed till it reached 68 mph. I think the 2015 is just geared a bit lower than the 2013. the 2015 "final reduction" gears has 54 teeth, while the 2013 has 53 teeth. Also the 2015 has a slightly wider drive belt, which would cause it to ride at different levels on the variater arrangement.

Sendler 2112:

I have an NCY variator and drive face with OEM rollers. I duplicated this setup on my other 2013 PCX and am getting 77mph on that one. Only difference I can think of is that the 79mph one has a newer belt. Unless the prev owner on the 79mph one filed the variator boss or drive face or whatever.

Either way, it's a lot more speed than stock and certainly worth doing. I would play with heavier weights but at some point, you get max top speed with the belt riding as high as it will go. And any additional weight in the rollers just mean slower acceleration with the same top speed as far as I understand it.

So all we need to buy is the NCY variator and NCY drive face? Would you have links so we don't order the wrong stuff? I saw the variator for $61 i think. So this is only about a $100 or so upgrade. Was it easy to change? Any other tips and tricks to it? TIA

You'll need both these items. =)

No tips, other than maybe order a new OEM belt if you want to maximize gains. And yes, easy to change.

I just checked with my local Honda dealer service manager and he said they would still honor the warranty for everything on my bike except the mod itself if I put on the new variator/face plate. I feel better about it now. He said it is unlikely the mod will cause any issues. He also said to call him when I put it them on if I need any help and he will walk me through it over the phone but it is very easy. I sure prefer a friendly dealer. :)

SEcoda, if you were closer I'd help. 2k miles a bit far! Check online for some "how-to" vids. You're going to need either and impact air gun (preferred) of a pully holder tool. I can do this swap start to finish in 10-15 mins. If we didn't have to remove the lower body work piece, it would be less than that.

I have a significant set of Craftsman auto tools including air impact stuff but will pick up a pulley holder tool. :D You can't own too many tools. :P

Can you recommend one for this? Thx!

I notice that the links are for the 125 version. What about the 150? Will these work on it?

;) Danke Schoen! I watched a few of the vids and it doesn't look bad. I already nearly had that panel off for the Bikers foot rests I put on.

Old Guy had posted above about the 53t vs 54t reduction gear difference between the 2013 and 2015. I put the NCY variator and drive face from my 2013 onto the 2015 using the 2015 belt with it, and it's hitting 78.5mph on the centerstand before hitting the limiter. OEM 2015 Belt has 950 miles on it at the moment. Happy to see I'm still hitting the same speeds as my 2013. You had me worried I wass going to lose 2-3mph. Anyway, wanted to let everyone know. =)

I'm amazed how many of you ride the PCX at top speed (or higher with mods!) as even at 40 with strong winds I feel like I'm going to be blown sideways!

Just received an email from CorSport saying "Awaiting Shipment". Glad I snuck that order in last Friday. They can't have too many of these in stock but I see them available elsewhere but for a few more $$. My total was $85 w/ free shipping. (plus the pulley holder I got off of Amazon)

I just want to be able to hit 70 with a bit left over for the few times I need it. Gusty days are an issue with these light weight bikes. Especially if you have a tall windshield.

With my Give Tall/modified Screen, It's as stable at 55-60mph as any midsize bike I've ridden. The screen keeps the wind from blowing YOU all over the bike which makes it even harder to control.

The faster you go, the more stable the bike is with the increased gyroscopic effect of the ever faster spinning wheels/tires. =)

High speed wobble can be an issue at various resonant frequencies.
