Yesterday we had an interesting thing happen TWICE while we were out on our scooter ride for the first time in two months. We were in a suburb not too far from ours, called Roswell. Now Roswell isn't like most of the other suburbs around Atlanta. It has a disproportionate amount of attorneys and real estate agents. The traffic enforcement officers are known to be strict. Here is why. We were on a road that had a lot of traffic, a lot of double yellow lines (strictly no passing by either direction of traffic), and a lot of intersections with designated left and right turn lanes. It get pretty conjested at most hours of the afternoon. While we were following a line of cars on one of these streets/roads, an Acura came from behind all of us, moved into the left lane just prior to the turn lane and passed everyone, going straight from the turn lane without even slowing down to see if any cars were coming....and several cars in front of us had their left turn signals on as they were moving toward the designated turn lane. The driver went around them also. That was one! Further down the same road, once again at an intersection, an Acura SUV went around everyone, this time using the RIGHT turn lane to go around the traffic and passing them in the intersection! Both of those vehicles did this at a high rate of speed, without slowing to see if there was any turning traffic or even worrying the anyone, invluding us on our scooters, might be getting ready to turn in either direction. I guess those drivers didn't have to worry about who they hit. But two of those could have been us!
