Head comes screwed on already so no need to worry about what thread my neck is.

At rider training they take all the mirrors off to force trainees to use their head principally while of course they also know a significant number will drop the bikes smashing them. One of the advanced courses demands that you remove mirrors or bag them. Having said that if you are going to use them standard configuration is far from useful.

You take them off or tape them over on track days too to avoid being distracted by what's behind you
