You seem a little confused.
My PCX has been maintained meticulously and functions perfectly.
The two items which have failed did so because of very poor quality components.
A hose of water is going to stop the stand mounts from breaking?

Maddie's one was only a few months old when it happened and had barely time to gather a thin film of dust.

I cleaned mine regularly (and still do), and it failed when the bike was basically new. GN2's failure wasn't related to how dirty it was, it's poor design for the centerstand.

GN2's just vocal about not cleaning bikes -- he treats his PCX as a commuter and doesn't care for it as a garage ornament. He'd rather ride than clean. For what it's worth, my PCX gets waxed regularly and is quite shiny. I prefer to keep my toys looking new as long as I can.

I've driven mostly cars as long as I've had a license and it's been a while. Over the years I've seen many cars that have been poorly maintained, dirty, inside filled with empty cans and food wrappers. I know everyone has a different idea of how to care for things but, if I'm paying for anything, I like to at least keep them clean and well maintained. I've had old cars, new cars and now a scooter. I always wax and polish to keep them looking good. This has always paid off for me when I sell or trade a vehicle. As far as the center stand problems go, now that this forum has shown it to be a problem, I'll add that as a an additional maintenance item. IMO, polishing and waxing your scooter will not damage it and can only make it look better. I have no idea if a helmet can affected by doing so and mine looks good with only a quick wiping with a microfiber cloth. Say what you will but keeping it clean is important.

Wash your scooter regularly,it only takes 15-20min. Polish it if it needs it and use wd40 on black plastic bit for shine and sun protection. It will look new for years to come...

Wd40 works good? I know it works on car tires and I'm pretty sure that is all my armour all 'extreme tire shine' is. Smells just like wd40 I think it is just overpriced wd40

Some "linky's" for the stuff I've used successfully on my previous bikes and now PCX. I'm always impressed by results. I also use microfiber cloths...1 ezy on....other ezy off. Done & purdy!
On Me "hat" just use warm water, I dampen area of a microfiber cloth to clean, then wipe with a dry section of the same cloth. Then smile in mirror finish

Works well? Probably best not to mix wd40 and tyres for many reasons

Yeah I wasn't talking about scooter tires. They make this tire shine stuff for car tires that you just spray on wall not tread
