It is probably the most important service your scooter will ever have.
That said though, lots of dealers will skimp out and do nothing but the bare minimum.
If you know your dealer is reputable and think they will actually do the full inspection and valve adjustment, by all means, you should have them do it. Otherwise, if they seem shady or if you think they will cut corners, do the oil change and valve adjustment yourself.
For reference, here is the maintenance intervals for the PCX:

Its in at a dealers in the morning (colin appleyard at Keighley) they service Hondas but not an official dealer, think they are Yamaha dealers though. Ive bought the bike for using so not waiting weeks to try and fit it in at honda while its the busy summer period. for the 2500 service I will take it to Honda and get them to do the valves

quick update at 1500 miles
love the bike and its returning a pretty consistent 135 miles to the tank taking near as makes no difference 5 litres each fill up - about 123mpg not bad for a 70 mile round trip commute with majority on 50, 60 and 70mph limit roads.
god the seats uncomfortable!

10,000 service update
Decided to go to an independent rather than Honda this time!
Bolton Motorcycle workshop close to where I work. Top marks to Russ, bike feels brand new super smooth on the ride home and its even been washed!
Oil and brake fluid change, final drive oil and air filter change. Had ordered new brake pads and shoes but they are still OK yet so will get them fitted next time.
Very pleased with the service and you get shown all the parts they have removed. Here's to another 2.5k
