Re: anybody riding?
We did about 50 miles along Florida scenic highway 30A yesterday. Usually packed with tourists. It was like a ghost town.
Today we did another 30 or so into Panama City to a Dr appointment. Glad to get home and isolate after that one!

Re: anybody riding?
Yesterday I took the Bandit out for a while.
I saw one motorcycle the whole time on the highway. No scooters anywhere. A few serious bicycle riders were catching some breeze.
Topped off the tank at my local filling station. Tried some of that Shell Nitro considering the price has come down.

Work cancelled yesterday, so I had to get out and relax. Something about curvy roads and good tunes. No bugs in my teeth, but smiling nonetheless.

Re: anybody riding?
Looks we are done here for at least 30 days. Florida going into 'stay at home' order at midnight. No trips except essentials - to pharmacy, grocery store, medical office etc. Not conducive to scooter rides, so it will be in the car. We can still do cycle rides, as that is considered essential exercise!
As I have underlying health conditions and meet all the requirements for being 'at risk' I am taking all this pretty seriously.

Go with your gut instincts. As I have underlying health conditions and meet all the requirements for being 'at risk' I am taking all this pretty seriously.
Before this thing is over I think a lot of folks are going to have an epiphany of some sort.
Here's a bizarre thought I had recently when I was out riding . . ..
While enjoying the sun and breeze I suddenly smelled tobacco smoke. It occurred to me that the source was the vehicle in front of me. So I'm thinking . . . "If I can smell that smoke am I potentially inhaling the virus if that individual is infected?".
Yeah . . . it does make one wonder.
I've always allowed at least one car length in front of me for braking distance to compensate for each 10 MPH but now I've increased that whenever I can.

Re: anybody riding?
When I took my bike out it was great! Sunshine, light breeze, pollen, watery eyes, almost empty roads. Yes, it was great.
I pulled into a grocery store parking lot and took off my helmet. Darned if there wasn't some guy in a pickup truck, 4 spaces down from the Handicap spaces, who was coughing so much that I thought he was going to cough up a lung!
Helmet back on. I went into the store with it on. I just needed to get a dvd from the Redbox machine, so I brought a Lysol wipe with me in a baggy. I was in and out in 5 minutes. The guy was still coughing. I put the dvd in one of my many coat pockets (Tourmaster mesh jacket), and headed out in the opposite direction as that guy in the truck. I didn't wait around to see if he needed help. I have leukemia. He is on his own when it comes to me helping him.

I think you did the right thing Mel.Darned if there wasn't some guy in a pickup truck, 4 spaces down from the Handicap spaces, who was coughing so much that I thought he was going to cough up a lung!
No need risking your health in an awkward situation.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Re: anybody riding?
Today was two wheel therapy day. Went from Nanaimo to Courtney then Campbell River and off to Gold River. Beautiful sun and warm. Sadly got turned around by RCMP at Strathcona Park on the way to Gold River.
Reason: I would need fuel and probably something to eat when I got there and they are limiting access. I pointed out I was packing my own fuel cans, but said no problem, I will head back. Never argue with a female officer with a gun.
On my trips I always pack my own fuel cans and food so I don’t have to stop at stores. But she does not know that.
Had lunch by the ocean in Campbell River and did a little plinking with the 22lr up in the woods off the logging roads.
Super relaxing day. Oh, and the cows, lots of cows along the way.

Re: anybody riding?
What is in the box that the gun is attached to?
I really doubt that the police around here would allow us to carry a rifle on a bike. Too many chances of being in an accident.
For some reason it seems to be an unwritten rule around here that if the Stop sign slows you down, just ignore it. That Yield sign?? Useless. The biggest or most expensive car has the right-of-way. Scooters lose. Wait till the big guys give you the OK to go, or wait until everyone else has gone before you go.

Re: anybody riding?
Great picks of those Canadian Hills!
Your PCX is well prepared for the riggers of the wild country.
A lot of the once forested areas in my neck of the woods are now developed.
I think about half the people in the U.S. live within 50 miles of any coast but I could be mistaken.

Let's just hope that the polar icecaps don't melt too fast or they may be living on the water instead of on the coast.Old Grinner wrote:I think about half the people in the U.S. live within 50 miles of any coast but I could be mistaken.

Re: anybody riding?
Hi Mel46, that box I made to hold my hunting rifle. Based on the same concept of the Kolphin cases for ATV’sMel46 wrote:What is in the box that the gun is attached to?

Made it so it quick releases after removing a couple of security bolts and locks. So I can be somewhat discreet in transit but put the rifle in the grips when out in the woods. I also put a fishing rod in the grips just to detract from what it may be used for while riding.

Re: anybody riding?
I like the rifle case on the pcx ...The UK cops would go made if they saw the rifle being carried on the outside of it....Gun laws in the UK are very strict....I once carried a shotgun in a soft case on my large motorcycle and was stopped by the police ...they were going to seize it at first as I was ''causing distress to other road users '' ---- and then they came up with '' if you had an accident someone could steal it ''...Which I then pointed out was the same as being in a car accident !! All the uk firearms/gun shops are closed down. We are not allowed to go out shooting other than for welfare ( injured deer etc ) than require humane despatch...Plenty of rabbits on the fields ( which make a great curry or stew ) but we aren't allowed to shoot them unless its on your own land...
