PCX 125 Mileage Lifespan

Post by Drew_Bernard »

First time poster here! I currently own a 2010 Honda Elite 110, and I'm looking to upgrade to a PCX 125 or 150. I found a 2011 PCX 125 for sale for $1295, which seems like a crazy good price. But the downside is it currently has 40,000 miles. What's the average life expectancy for the PCX? Would this be a good deal to jump on, or would I be better off paying a little more for less risk?

Thanks!

40,000 is fine if it has been well cared for.
Can you get a service record or have a mechanic look at it?

40k, wow! That is awesome to hear of a PCX with that much use on it. Personally I'd try to bring the price down a bit since that's high mileage on any bike really. I'd also make sure it's an ESP model (it will have an ESP badge on the airbox). If it's not an esp model I'd avoid it because of the centerstand/crankcase issues with pre-esp PCXs. if you can haggle the price down a bit and it's an ESP model, then I'd say why not?

A 2011 model is highly unlikely to be an ESP.
I remember though to read someone on this forum to turn 40k miles about a year ago at least - with no issues whatsoever.

Maddiedog had a 2011 PCX 125 and he drove the heck out of his, using it for work almost every day. He upgraded it with a big bore kit and it hummed as a 170cc rocket. He sold it to someone who wanted his wife to ride her own bike when they went riding. He took his centerstand off because of the issue, but otherwise that bike was solid. It is a Honda. Get the price as low as you can, have a mechanic check it over, as you should with any used bike, and then change the oil and ride. I have no idea how long it should last but I know of other single cylinder bikes that have gone to 100,000 miles. It all depends on how it is maintained.
