Re: Most ridden PCX
I'm near the sierra nevada mountains, I take tons of trips to South Lake Tahoe. BUT I'd never take my PCX on that trip. I just don't believe it has the power to get through the mountains sadly. I'd love it though if it could. I just wouldn't wanna piss off the ppl following me lol. If I was making a trip back going downhill mostly, I wouldn't mind it.

Re: Most ridden PCX
Thank you! I sort of wrote off road tripping on it when I decided to trade the 400 for it, but after riding it for a few weeks, it seems like it might almost be doable! Again, I was very surprised at what a modern 125cc 4-stroke was providing. The routes I mapped out were Google, but I chose "bicycle" for the mode, thinking it would be slower and more scenic, far away from the 75mph craziness of the inter-states. I was interested to see if any of the hi-mileage people in this thread have a lot of 55-60 mph riding in all of those miles--the effect it might have had on the bike. Changing the seat out will have to be done before any serious road work is to happen, anyway.jkautz wrote:I'm near the sierra nevada mountains, I take tons of trips to South Lake Tahoe. Re: Most ridden PCX
I ride 55+ mph 80% of my commute to work and it's mostly flat land. I have 3k miles right now. So far so good.
It's not really about the speed capability, but the power of it. It can't handle steep grades.

Try it, thunderkat59! In the early days, people used to do tours on low HP bikes all the time. Heck, they do it on bicycles now!
BTW--saw my post above. 985 miles as of Apr 30. Took me two months to hit a thousand miles. I need to do a tour!

2013 PCX 150 [now an ex-bike, soon to be consigned to the bottom line of the sig]
2013 Silver Wing ABS (Black)
1971 BMW R75/5 (White)
Too many ex-bikes to list, and, besides, who really cares what we used to own?

Re: Most ridden PCX
Hi Thunderkat. That's completely possible. As long as the engine is broken in and the first service performed, your PCX is more than up to the task. At least half my miles on my PCX are from long trips, including Atlanta to Fl, NC, TN, AL, and others. I've done over 500 miles a day a few times, mostly at over 55mph, with no issue.
Keep up with the service intervals and don't bounce it off the limiter too much (doing so lowers your gas mileage a LOT anyways), and you'll have a great time for a long time.
