Actually, I made more or less the same thing, but I used cable binder clamps. Using a long bit of cable lets me attach the Admiral's helmet as well as my own to the PCX, and leaves the underseat compartment for whatever (hi-vis vests at a minimum). Our helmets don't fit under anyway, so I am always using the Honda-supplied loop thing when I am alone.

I used three feet of cable, and it allows us to put one helmet on one side and the other on the other, nice and neat. I don't think I have a pic, but will try to take one when the season opens up again.

Here is a link to the clamps I am talking about, but they are available at your local hardware store for short money.

On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

My clamps also specially for cable, but smaller than yours and easier to install. And not make scratches. And your cable I think have same size then mine 3 feet I think be near one meters. And can also fixed 2 helmet or any else, and I used a simple plastic bag for safe rain.

Your right, Sol - if I had seen cable clamps like you found, I would have used those. I had to cut off excess threaded post (rotary tool made short work of it though) and do some filing to get the clamps to go through the D-rings of our helmets. And tightening the two little bolts that were so close together was not exactly a picnic either. OTOH - I only had to do it once, so I'm OK.
