How-To: Solve a Soggy Hump On The Cheap (not fully serious)

So, as you can probably tell today is a day off and im bored and maybe a little sarcastic. Been reading a lot about people having a wet ass from the hump after rain. Thought I would share a simple and free solution.

Tools/Supplies needed:
-Plastic bag
-scissors (optional)

Step 1:
Cut or tear out bottom of bag


Step 2:
Open PCX seat and place bag around seat and hump


Step 3:
Close seat



And BAM! All done! Good job! Now your hump wont be soggy after the rain! Doesnt look good but it sure is simple to use. And cheaper than a cover

Off-cut of neoprene cut to size...(take no notice of the white strips or superglue which i didnt use)

the idea was to create a watertight seal but the hard plastic ridges prevented the neoprene from being flush with the hump, however after tightning the hump as much as possible it worked out pretty well... next is to get a blow torch and melt those pesky ridges down.

no glueing needed just tighten bolts with a ratchet.

So all silliness aside, did this actually work? Because I went to dinner with a soggy ass last week because my hump was still retaining water 3 days after rain...

Indeed it did Dave, after a torrential downpour I tried it out and came back with a dry posterior
I will be happier when i remove the ridges so its totally flush at the 'bottom' but that aside it works,

over time the neoprene acted like a sponge...anyway I've now used some sugru and so far it seems to be working.

After trying a few different methods I can finally say the only thing that really worked was sugru self setting rubber, even after a heavy downpour or leaving the bike out all night in the rain, the next day you can be confident of nothing seeping through and giving you a soggy behind.

Its even heat and cold resistant to 180C / -50C, so no melting in the hot sun or cracking on a winter morning.

Application tips : Dont remove the hump and apply a bead of sugru around the perimeter of it, this is what I did initially but it didnt quite work, what to do is make sure the hump is screwed in as tight as possible then with a finger, smear the sugru into the edge like you would if you were grouting some tiles, this ensures a completely watertight seal.

It really makes a difference knowing youre not going to end up with a wet arse.
