75-80 mpg normal for PCX 125?

Post by eshroom »

I mainly do city driving + bypass on my commute - often with a pillion - so am accelerating often and the bypass is usually at around 50mph. Even so this seems pretty low. Even if I try and keep it easy on the throttle and riding alone I struggle to get above 95mpg.

That honestly sounds about right for city commuting with a passenger. I’ve noticed that stop-and-go traffic and the extra weight of a pillion absolutely tank the efficiency, no matter how easy you are on the throttle. Even on those 50mph stretches, the constant speed changes for lights or merging eat up more fuel than just cruising at a steady pace. Getting 95mpg under those conditions isn't actually that bad, I usually find that those "advertised" triple-digit numbers only happen on flat solo runs with zero wind and a lot of patience. If you're carrying a second person most of the time, you're doing okay.
