PCX2025 with upgraded rear shocks

Post by Flyingscootie »

Hey everyone, guess what? Honda finally gave the new PCX160 2025 a rear shock upgrade! That’s incredible news. My 2021 model, on the other hand, has been super stiff, making me feel tired and my back sore after just an hour of riding in town. I wish I had test-driven it before buying.

I’ve been thinking about getting aftermarket shocks and changing them, but that would be a considerable expense in New Zealand. So, I’m thinking of selling my 2021 model.

I have a '23 brown PCX. I have seen a couple YouTube videos, claiming the same thing. Along with handlebar pad and new instrumentation 🙂 Does any one on here know ?? Honda dealer says from what he can find, It's almost identical to'22-'24 USA PCX's

I've been unable to get any info on the 2025 US models. No definite dates available, colors, changes... nothing. Since there are still '23 and '24 models still on some showrooms, there probably won't info until Honda releases the 2025s to its dealers and announces them on the web site.
Plenty of 2025 overseas models reviewed. But when the US models have yet to come with disc brakes, I suspect those reviews are nothing more than teasers.

Any info yet on ,'25 PCX rear shocks?? Are we getting better shocks yet?? Any info would be appreciated!! I can't handle the rock hard rear shocks on my '23 PCX Honda 160 (USA). Is there any adjustability!!! I live in Northern Wisconsin. I always bought dual sports in past for the cushy suspension. Are roads in Wausau, Wi. Are absolutely hideous!! What's the best reasonably priced, aftermarket rear shocks??

I feel the stock rear shocks are the softest shocks out there. Most aftermarket would be stiffer, I could be wrong.

I run some Takegawa lowering rear shocks. They are stiff but I run them bc they are shorter than stock which is what I wanted since I lowered the front.

I have a 2023 and find the OEM rear shocks okay. I'm a fatty at 230 pounds and my wife is 140ish. Solo I have no issues, 2-up it gets a bit crashy and tries to bottom out over bigger bumps. I have just under 2000 miles on my PCX. It loosened up a bit over time and got softer.

I read a review from England on YT about the "new" 2025 and the reviewer said the gas charged shocks felt just like the regular OEM rear shocks. I was tempted to look at some YSS aftermarket rear shocks but I'll still be fighting the 13" rear wheel.

This conversation is a bit odd to me. I placed a deposit on a 2025 Honda PCX a month ago just picked it up from my local Honda dealer less than a week ago. It definitely has the traditional coil springs and, as expected, still has tear drum brake.
Maybe Honda reserves the upgrades for other markets... but it certainly didn't give them to their US models.
I'll try to upload a few photos when the weather gets clear enough to take a few pics.

Wow airhead, I assumed wrong concerning the US market model. But the "upgraded" PCX overseas gets the TFT? display and the remote reservoir rear shocks. Overseas has a base model as well.

I prefer the drum rear brake myself. I'm a simpleton at heart. Another weird thing I saw was the overseas market swapping the 2025 enclosed handlebars back to the exposed bars. Why you ask? Easy mounting of phone and/or drink holders.

I still wanna see a 2025 model but I'm happy with my 2023. Now if Honda brings the Giorgio step-thru model to the US I'll trade in towards tha5 step-thru model.

I'm not opposed to the rear drums either. Like you said, simple and efficient, and plenty capable to stop a 300# scoot.
The handlebar cover looks nice, but I'm going to need to figure out to remove it long enough to route some wiring for heated grips, and what-not.
I'll try to get a few pics when it clears off from rain. I'm not sure what else has changed, so I don't know what to show. But I'll for sure show the rear shocks.
