IAT circuit high voltage

Post by faridarif2000 »

Hi there,

im currently using pcx 2017. my bike already clocked at around 60k km. Recently, the bike have engine chk light illuminate during riding. no power loss or stalling happened during riding. took to service center , plug the MCS and computer reads IAT circuit high voltage. the technicians resets the ECM and did a test ride not no failure appeared. he suggested to replace throttle boddy complete assy if it appear again and eventually ECM . took the bike back. using couple of days and engine chk light appeared again. this time while riding, notice engine begin hesitate a little and eventually shutoff. locks the rear wheel and eventually cvt belting gave away. wait for a while , engine managed to restart again and call the towing to bring d bike home.
i went open the bike , replace the belt , and got access to the engine bay. remove the filter box and clean that up, replace the filter with std one (before this using a newly bought K&N drop in filter ) . i did chk the throttle body, nothing seems wrong with it. instead im waiting the new TPS to be replace soon.
Anyone have experience this failure code before and appreciate can share with me what you have done. thanks

So I have a 2017 PCX. When I was around 2k miles, out of nowhere the bike would stall out at stops. I would have to feather the throttle to keep it on. Cant remember if I has a check engine light or not but don't think so. From what I gathered is the 2017 are a crossover year. They used the IAC sensor & plug from the 2016 and below models. Granted you are talking about Intake air Temp Sensor (IAT) which I dont believe a PCX has unless I missed it on the cylinder head.

What I had to do was change the entire Throttle body and wire harness from a 2018+ model.

Hi Conelite,

thank for sharing this. for your information, the TPS unit have 3 sensor in it. MAP sensor, IAT and throttle position sensor. those thing that sticking out is the inlet air temperature sensor. the honda technician suggest to me to replace the throttle body assy if the fault code appear again. he didnt gave me a logical explanation why the whole assy recommend to be replaced, it make me hesitate to proceed on his suggestion instead the tps is the logical part to chg in the 1st place.
By the way, anyone knows the part no for the throttle body complete assy fitted with small size iacv connector? i have replaced the harness with iacv small connector before. My bike photo as attached.

Hi everyone,

just wish to update. TPS have been changed to new unit. Air filter have been replaced with a new standard filter. the k&n drop in filter i have cleaned , reoiled and keep it aside for a momment. test ride have been performed around 60km . so far no engine chk light illuminated.
i will keep posted if the engine chk light illuminate again. thank you again for the advice and tips. really help me to make the decision.

i attached as well the diagram system for PGM-FI . if you can see that the TPS unit consist of 3 sensor in 1 unit.

The throttle position sensor is separate (TPS). The IAC might have the MAP sensor in it as well.
