2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
I was speaking to a vendor who sells the NCY 13 Gram rollers, he was not able to confirm if they fit a 2019 because the OEM part numbers changed from 2018.
I gave them a try anyway. When they arrived today I installed them. Took about 2 hours, the scooter is a little different than the write up I found on youtube.
Took the scooter for a ride, noticed right away an increase in acceleration and a slight increase in engine RPM. I don’t have a tachometer so I’m only going by sound.
There is a 1/2 mile long rather steep hill near me that my scooter would only climb at 46 MPH in stock format, I took the scooter straight to the hill and gave it a go, I was able to climb it consistently at 53 MPH and am very satisfied with the new performance. Top end is exactly the same as what it was at 64 MPH but I get there much quicker and consistently now. (According to the stock speedometer.)
Overall, I’m very happy and recommend the upgrade to everyone on the fence about doing it.
And yes they work great on a 2019.

Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
I think throughout the years here we have all agreed that on a PCX the 13g is the sweet spot. There are however, differences Noise, I have used for different types of rollers or sliders, and I really like the quiet aspect of the new Techpulley roller.

Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing - would this be the same case for the 125 European models? Is 13 grams still the sweet spot?
Dr. Pulley has a chart here - http://www.drpulley.info/drpulley_docs/Typenliste.htm where apparently 15 & 17 grams are mentioned. Not sure if I'm reading it right though.
As for NCY rollers, what's the model number? I found these for example - https://www.amazon.co.uk/NCY-Rollers-16 ... B00PGOB162
When changing rollers, do you change sliders as well? Dr. Pulley seems to recommend so... Also, do you think it voids the warranty? I would imagine/hope technicians inspect the belt during services, what would their reaction to different rollers be?
I'm all about a more comfortable and quieter scoot, I also live in a hilly area where a bit of extra oomph would be most welcomed. It seems the rollers gave you all 3, OP.
Thanks!

You don't have rollers and sliders , you have one or the other. As far as I know, it's never been a warranty problem to change them.

I doubt a tech would even notice if they were changing the belt.
Also, if you have a few tools and a little time changing the belt is easy as can be.

Thanks for the item name @Racer83L!
@Jge64 - I'm a bit confused. Looked up a variator for the PCX and the attached picture shows the arrowed components. I always thought they were called sliders... Do you need a special tool to unbold the variator? I remember doing this 300 years ago on a vespa and I recall needing a special variator tool.
Also - any MPG detriments to changing rollers?
Thanks!

Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
Thanks for the clarification!
I am just ordering the Dr. Pulley ones - researched all the model numbers on their catalog.
For the UK/European PCX 125, the below are recommended. Apparently, stock bikes come with 2 different roller weights which slightly alters Dr. Pulley's recommended weight, but only marginally. The sweet spot, as described above, seems to be the 13g ones.

The pieces arrowed in the picture are collectively called the slide piece set. (According to the OEM parts breakdown on Partzilla, shown here: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda ... drive-face).

Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
Racer83L, when you removed your rollers and replaced with 13g NCY, did you weigh the stock rollers? Still trying to get an accurate measure of the 2019-2020 stock roller weight.
Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
Anyone changing the weights should invest in a Tach. TTO works great and is small and has a self contained battery. No wiring beside the lead kick up.
From what I gathered the sweet spot for these engines is around 8-9k rpms. Keepo your RPMs around there and you will get the best Acceleration and top speed. You sacrifice MPG when you go lighter. I run 11.15g sliders in my NCY.

Those are the back plate "Guides" on a variator.paulcoup wrote:The pieces arrowed in the picture are collectively called the slide piece set. (According to the OEM parts breakdown on Partzilla, shown here: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda ... drive-face).

Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
Just an FYI for future use... I dug into my 2020 pcx 150, only 5 weeks old, because i just had to know the OE roller weights. Removed rollers and weighed them on my wifes digital food scale. 17grams. So a 2019 or 2020 pcx 150 has 17gram rollers from the factory. Probably gonna try 14 g dr pulleys.
Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
Keep in mind, heavier weights are encouraged since the gearing on newer PCX's like the ADV's have short gearing.scooterbro11 wrote:Just an FYI for future use... On older PCX's you can go 11g weights and hit up in the 70's..

Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
installed the 14g dr pulley sliders, was accelerating around 6500 rpm with stock 17g rollers, now it's around 7500 rpm with the 14g sliders. It's a little faster 0-40mph, but i went from over 100mpg to around 80-85 mpg. i may bump the weight up a little to 15g sliders as a better balance of performance and gas mileage. top speed seems about the same (68ish), around 55-60mph, the tach starts to climb again into the 8000's so it dont think the 14's are too light to keep top speed. Definitely not getting any more top speed with the sliders profile.

Did you install the 15g sliders? If so, what do you think of them performance wise?scooterbro11 wrote:installed the 14g dr pulley sliders, was accelerating around 6500 rpm with stock 17g rollers, now it's around 7500 rpm with the 14g sliders. Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
i did not buy 15g sliders. after about 1-2 weeks of riding, i started to get more in the 90-94 mpg, so i decided i liked the 14g sliders and will stick with those for now. pretty sure i could get some more speed out of my 2020 pcx with 13g or 12g sliders, but dont really have the need for it.
guess i was full throttle quit a bit on my first tank to see if it felt faster... made me go into the low 80's mpg

Re: 2019 150 USA model 13G roller review.
Funny how a light set of rollers/sliders will do that. I appreciate your feedback. I really do like my 100+ mpg but she is also pretty sluggish out of the hole. Decisions, decisions....
