Oil Smells of Fuel

Post by Mark2260 »

Hi,
Today I checked my oil and noticed it smelled of fuel. It hasn't done this before but it's a warm day and I wonder if this has anything to do with it. I'm thinking of putting some 10w40 in as I have 3 liters of it left from my bike and don't really want to run it on the contaminated fuel. Bike has 1300 miles on it.
Has anyone used this weight?
Thanks

Don’t know about the smell. Bike is too new. I think they put some strange oil in at the factory.
I ran 10w40 for a while with no problems. Summer only I guess. Factory recommended oil is almost impossible to get in Canada

109,000 km on my engine with no problems.

ta mate, it doesnt burn oil, but it was warm today, well warm for us in the UK, I was test riding a CRF250l which was horrible to ride and gutless, then a NC750X nice but numb hands started to appear, in fact I was kind of glad to get back in my Forza, might just try the 10w40.
