Just about to head home from my coffee run this morning - when this convoy came creeping down through town.
Do you get free shipping when you buy an airplane?

I remember seeing a vintage Catalina flying boat for sale on eBay once.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I've been fascinated by that plane since I was a kid. I'd have put a bid on it, and worry about placing in the yard before the wife got home....maybe she wouldn't notice.gn2 wrote:I remember seeing a vintage Catalina flying boat for sale on eBay once.

Beautiful photos!!
Them there are..."Today's Quick Pic(s)!"
Reminds me of the 60's and 70's when Grumman would transport their hush hush space bits (actually, Bigger than Bits!) Many a time I would be tied up in traffic waiting for the monster to pass.
Here's an article that some may find interesting.

Re: Amazon sells everdam thing!
I retired from Lockheed Martin, and it was common to send and receive large airplane parts either by rail or by truck. We did some sub-contract work for other aircraft builders when we were not overloaded with our own assemblies. Parts went all the way across country many times, from Atlanta to Boeing in Washington State, or to and from Ft. Worth, Texas. When I first came to work for them they were building the big big C-5 Galaxy. That thing was a monster, so parts were sub-contract out and would come in every day either by rail or by truck.

Maybe delivery by a "ChinooK" would have been more efficient?

This used to ship Airbus wings out of our local airport. They closed the strip so now they have to go by road to our dock...
