I stop at my local gas station to fill up, turn off the key and pressed the tank cover button to pop-open the fuel cover lid.
As I get off the bike, the heel of my shoe clips the open cover lid and knocks if off centre just a wee bit, so I close it to see how bad it is
Dumb move as now I can't open it, the release button won't move as it's now seized closed
So I get out the factory tool kit and with some help from the screw driver I'm able to re-open the lid.
I had to use force to bend the cover lid back into proper alignment....seems to be no worse for wear.
Anyhow lesson learnt, don't open the fuel tank cover lid until off the bike

Duly noted. . .you may have just saved me a headache later on down the road.
I'll keep repeating the mantra, "Must not open the gas lid while on the PCX".

Re: Kicked the fuel tank cover lid
You could do what motorcyclists do and pull up to the pump and fuel while sitting on it, although the filler neck is kind of low to bend the nozzle at the right times so fuel doesn't drip out of the filler nozzle.
I think the preferred way is to get off the machine the same way people get on and off motorcycles: by swinging a leg over.

Re: Kicked the fuel tank cover lid
Considering the amount of scuff marks I have had to clean off of the gas tank cover, I would never open the lid before getting off of my scooter. I have had to replace my lid a few times, but never because I kicked it while it was open. I have taken the assembly off multiple times.
For awhile I had an accessory outlet I installed on the panel. It worked great. I used it for a couple of years, but then I decided to use the Battery Tender leads and just add a USB port to that. Either way works fine, and both looked clean. It is just preference I guess.
