Re: Gears for higher top speed
Thus your top speed. This is why I'm saying upgrade your variator first. Your rpms are constant until the variator is completely extended then you start to raise rpms to redline. The longer the ramps the higher speed you are at before you reach lockup

Re: Gears for higher top speed
If the ramps were clean it would be easier to see this. You can see how the two ramps in focus do not reach the top of the pulley. They are shorter than those on the orange pulley. This limits how high the belt can ride and your gear ratio.

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Here is a picture from Maddiedog's thread. A large screen like he has will prevent much speed over 70mph. The takegawa variator is a good start to a solid performing scooter.

Re: Gears for higher top speed
It's not that it's larger, it's the fact that the ramps are full length. The stock variator ramps won't allow the weights to go out fully. The ramps are cut short so just swapping to ANY aftermarket variator will provide gains. I'll try and upload a comparison picture.

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Look here
http://japan.webike.net/products/20129423.html
You will find that you have a great improvement with the sliders in acceleration and midrange power however your top speed will only improve by 1-2 mph

Re: Gears for higher top speed
I would order the takegawa variator through webike and put your sliders in. That will make a MAJOR improvement. Probably by 8-10 mph on your top speed. The stock variator severely limits the pcx. The ends of the ramps are squared off.

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Wingz there is power to go faster, it's just a matter of faster with the ability to hold speed up hills that becomes an issue. I'm just trying to help you see that a variator is a much better option than the gear kit. The stock variator limits you to 68 mph before your weights are bouncing around. Y...

Re: Gears for higher top speed
There is not. Enough power with the 150 to take advantage they said. It was suggested to install a big bore kit and larger throttle body first. Their variator will give you up to 150kph or 93 mph. With a stock 150 we are expected to reach 135-140 kph. I will find out soon as mine is on its way acros...

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Wingz, I conversed back and forth with Yuminashi with the same idea in mind. I was told that with my 150 unless I had a 31mm throttle body or big bore kit I would not be happy with the results. I currently have a yuminashi Variator in the mail and will be posting results shortly after I get it. Thei...

You don't actually need to replace the speed sensor, just modify it. Pcxdemon knows about this.

NCY variator and sliders - not a good combo
So we all know that dr pulley sliders are a great product. I also enjoy my NCY variator, it's an ok piece that raised my pcx 150 top speed to 77 mph down hill and 75 mph on flat ground. I trie using sliders in this variator... Twice. Something about the coating in the NCY variator does not mix with ...

Re: Variators for increased speed,
Yuminashi is supposed to be the best product hands down. Pcx racing out of France can ship to you or motorsports nation here in the states. If going with webike the suggested variator would be takegawa.

Re: Throttle stuttering
I would open the air box to see if there was any oil in it. Never overfill an engine. The dipstick has a "fill range" on it. Your oil level should be in that range. You said you did the first oil change yourself. Is your pcx using oil?
