Thanks for all the advice everyone. I bought the tools for £3, including postage from china (ebay) and they have just arrived. I'm surprised at how sturdy they feel! Just waiting for the panels to arrive from America and then I can get on with the repairs!

@khaosaming That maybe explains it. No the side stand wasn't down/engaged, I was balancing the bike by holding it from the back whilst my friend took it from the front. We were basically moving the bike through a tight gate so there wasn't room for the bike and the rider to go through it at the same...

I have no idea Taz! If I'm honest I didn't even realise the bike had such a function. It would have saved me a big headache if it did (work)

So after driving my new bike carefully with all intentions of keeping it spotless for the first year at least, it's ended up skidding along the floor and messing up most of the panels on the right hand side.
