Re: 2019 Yamaha XMax 300 . . . the Last in a Long Line for M
To some people, scooters seem to close to those evil motorcycles! An electric bicycle is still, to some degree, a bicycle, and is seen as a social positive. Personally they are not my cup of tea. I tried one out at the bicycle shop where I was having my bicycle repaired. It was heavy and awkward to ...

Re: MPG: Getting around 90
Regarding insurance. When I added the PCX150 to my bike coverage with Progressive (for full year round coverage) my total insurance bill went DOWN by $3. The "multi bike" discount slightly more than covered the added coverage for the second "bike". But it does seem likely that if...

Re: MPG: Getting around 90
"This was my reason for getting the Forza 300. My first fill up said 67, but calculating at the pump was better than 70mpg. It held the interstate very well and had no problem going 75, but I was the only one on it.[/quote] Not being mechanically inclined, and for other reasons, I have never bo...

MPG: Getting around 90
Reading on this forum about folks that get 115 mpg or similar numbers, made me wonder about how those PCX's are being ridden. I've had my PCX150 for about 2 months now, and have 800 miles on the odometer. Although I live in a small city, I am close to the "edge" of that city and most of my...

Re: 2019 lcd dash hard to see in sunlight
I've had a bright sun make it difficult to read any other data on the screen other than the large digital display of the speed. And while I am moving, that is the only info that I really need. Mine is also a 2019 PCX150. FWIW, I have never been a real fan of digital speedometers, but I seem to have ...

Re: Questions from a new owner
I'm able to run a power cord from the power outlet to the phone mount on the handlebar, and still squeeze the "glove box" lid closed. It never occurred to me to have to drill a hole or anything to get power to the phone. If over time the pressure of the lid damages the power cord, I'll jus...

Re: I have trouble going over 50mph, rider issue, not mechan
Maybe its because I have been riding a motorcycle for over 35 years, but I love my PCX and ride it about as fast as it will go virtually every time I get on it. I added a taller windscreen but didn't like it, so I went back to the little stock screen and as long as I have a visor on my helmet I am f...

Re: 2019 Yamaha XMax 300 . . . the Last in a Long Line for M
I think that if I go for a bigger scooter it will likely be the Burgman 400. Not only will that engine allow me to cruise comfortably on the Interstate, the seat is just UNDER 30 inches. I could see myself trading in my Goldwing and my PCX at some point to buy a new Burgman 400 and officially accept...

Had a first for me on the PCX today
Today I had a "first" on the PCX. I was taking a nice ride, just for the fun of it, on a country road that I often go on. There are some nice curves, and some long straightaways where you can get your speed up. Its a 55 mph road, and usually, by keeping up 55 to 60 mph I am just staying wi...

Re: How many miles do you have on your PCX
I find that if I "baby" the scooter, i.e., very modest speeds (40 mph or less) and very gentle on the throttle, I get about 105 mpg (I only have 600 miles on the odometer). My normal, more "spirited" riding, results in a typical 90 mpg and sometimes less. Pulling out from traffic...

Re: Added a windscreen
Thanks, but this item doesn't really look like what I wanted. On a previous bike I had the Laminar Lip extension, which adhered with two simple hook-and-loop disk's, very unobstrusive, and curved so that they actually deflected the air over the head and helmet.

Re: Added a windscreen
FWIW, I tried to reach Laminar Lip, which has an active website. Email to them was returned as undeliverable. Calling them resulted in an endlessly ringing phone line. Any suggestions for other vendors for this type of product to add to an existing windscreen?

Re: Added a windscreen
Thanks. I might try that. Years ago, when I had a Honda Silverwing, I added the Laminar Lip addition and it did seem to help. I forgot about that.

Added a windscreen
I added the Givi Universal windscreen that Revzilla.com recommended for my 2019 PCX150. Its a smallish windscreen but I was hoping it would help block some of the airflow to my chest and head, especially when at higher speed (50 to 60 mph). After installing it (more effort than I would have expected...

Re: 2019 Yamaha XMax 300 . . . the Last in a Long Line for M
The reality is that experienced riders can handle a slightly too high seat, but a newbie will be rattled by the uncomfortable feeling of "tippy toeing" the bike. Since many see scooters as the entry vehicle into the world of motorcycling, it is strange that the manufacturers do not recogni...

Re: 2019 Yamaha XMax 300 . . . the Last in a Long Line for M
Before buying the PCX I tried a Vespa 300. I didn't care for the higher seat, or the $8,000 price tag, as well as the 60 miles to the closest dealer. I also did not like the feel of the tiny wheels, especially at speed. I would not consider a Vespa unless and until they increase the wheel size, but ...

Re: 2019 Yamaha XMax 300 . . . the Last in a Long Line for M
I enjoyed reading this long thread. My main ride is a Goldwing, but I also have a new 2019 PCX150 for fun and local errands. The Goldwing is an unbelievable ride, but at 76 I know that my years of handling a 900+ pound two wheel vehicle will likely run out in the next few years. Riding the Goldwing ...

Re: Top speed
If you want a bigger engine for more power, why not buy the Forza or one of the scooters from another manufacturer? I am really loving my PCX as a second bike to my Goldwing. But I am also thinking that when the Goldwing is just too much for me in my old age, instead of the lighter bike that I was t...

Top speed
I didn't buy my 2019 PCX150 for its ability to ride fast. For that I have a motorcycle with a 1832cc engine. But just for curiosity, I wonder what speed others have reached without modifying the stock scooter. My scooter is totally stock, and I am right about 200 pounds. On long flat stretches of ro...
