Re: Effects of Extended Use At/Near Governed Top Speed
What kinda oil did you use? Synthetic? JASO MA rated? MOTUL 5100 15W50 for me. Dealer recommended it. I didn't know it from a bar of soap initially so I did a bit of "Googling" and it seemed to be an quality/OK product. Oil brands and types seem to be almost an alternate religion for many...

Re: PCX 125 died mid ride.
That's the rub with the PCX - it doesn't burn any oil when new (and we get complacent about checking it) - and then when consumption starts to increase it gets low or can run out before we realise. I make a point of checking mine every 2 or 3 days now - and HAVE to carry extra oil if I shoot off on ...

Re: PCX choking under load sometimes
I've had a few Error 12's. They would occur every few days - and only started to occur after the bike was stripped down by the dealer for a mid-life valve clearance check. Dealer had the ignition off at the time, but battery still connected - and his theory was that the ECU recorded it as an injecto...

Re: Is it reasonable to take a PCX on a cross country trip
I noticed when riding at 55 for less than 3 miles, that my seat got pretty warm quickly from the engine, as well as I could feel the plastics in the center (by the filler cap) also getting pretty warm through my riding boots...I took this as a hint to back off and turned off to a side road. That ru...

Re: PCX 125 died mid ride.
Belts do break - several people on this forum have experienced that! I just did a little "Googling" and was surprised to find some examples happening here. It's quite odd; some seem to have failed very prematurely whereas mine have looked like they could do twice the recommened interval a...

Re: Ignition barrel
Excellent news!
Can't say I've ever had that issue with the ignition - but it happens every couple of years to the lock on my top box which I cure much the same way.

Re: 2013 PCX Speedometer questions
I don't know much about it other than the fact that (a) there's no mechanical cable (having worked in that area) and (b) the speedo works when the bike is run up on the centre stand -- so definitely not sensed from the front wheel.
So I'd say gn2 is right on the money.

Re: Ignition barrel
I'm only familiar with what's on the PCX, but wouldn't at all be surprised if they're the same part. I'm guessing that you're referring to that cover plate thing that you can slide over the keyway that has to be subsequently retracted by the "hex type shape thing" on the key? If so then I ...

Re: PCX 125 died mid ride.
Sorry to hear! I'm a bit confused by your description; is the engine actually firing when you try to start it - or is it only turning over on the "starter motor" and not firing? Would be very surprised if the belt had anything to do with it - in my experience they're damn near indestructab...

Re: Dismantle front body to access steering
I do most of my own maintenance - but head bearing work is one of the few things I leave for my dealer. It's my understanding that quite a few panels have to come off - starting at the back. You'll also need a tool to get a couple of chrome nuts off - and a maintence manual is highly highly recommen...

Re: Belt Squeal at low speed
Last time I almost had to give up getting the CVT cover off as the left side was stuck solid. More then 30 minutes later after almost breaking the cover in two, it came off but the lhs dowl was stuck solid into the metal bodywork, not the cover. Almost rusted in if that is possible. As trying to gr...

Re: Is it reasonable to take a PCX on a cross country trip
We plan on sticking to back roads, and only doing highways when we have to. For what it's worth, I've done heaps of highway riding at full throttle. If there's someone who wants to get past ... I just let them go past (I don't want them behind me any more than they want to be behind me - so it's a ...

Re: Belt Squeal at low speed
I did fit a new driven pulley to the rear due to the noisy bearings (Honda really should replace that FOC seeing it's a common issue due to low grease or poor bearings), so hope that is not to blame. Due to work and other things I have not taken a peek, mostly due to taking the side panel off again...

Ordered the two drive faces items, 22102-K35-V00 & 22110-K36-A00 from Bikerbitz, total £9 for the parts and £35 inc tax, shipping (£19 shipping) < still cheaper than ordering here, just hope they fit! They're both different part numbers than what I ordered - but it's for a different series of b...

Thanks for those links Coasting - my bike is a '14 Reg (1st UK LED version) so usually have to look for a 2015 US 150 version on Partzilla. Yeah - mine was the last version before LED. What locale are you in - UK, Europe or other? Other (South Pacific) Those prices seem great! Yes - I was very plea...
