Re: How to reduce your coronavirus infection risk

Mel - she sounds like she has an appalling attitude, but please don't make the mistake of thinking that you're safe just because everyone around you is wearing a mask. Masks may stop droplets but they do ZERO to stop the virus spreading as an aerosol. If you're unlucky enough to inhale some of the a...

Well I just turned 60 - so my answer to that is "a few more years yet" ;)

Re: How to reduce your coronavirus infection risk

Our groceries are brought out to my truck, no-touch. Fast food , the same. Library items the same. Walmart delivers to our door. All prescriptions are mail order. I frequent a vacant coffee shop, and sit outdoors. I mask up at gas stations and wear gloves. Family and friends visit by phone. Daughte...

Re: How to reduce your coronavirus infection risk

Masks don't do any harm, but the vast majority don't do a lot of good either. If you're in a confined area with 100 people and one isn't wearing a mask you're far more likely to catch COVID-19 from someone wearing a mask simply because there's a far greater chance that one of the 99 with a mask will...

Re: How to reduce your coronavirus infection risk

In all seriousness, it's saying what I've been saying all along (knowledge that I've received from epidemiologists that I deem to be credible) - and thats that the virus is transmitted as an aerosol. If you walked into a room with poor ventilation that had someone smoking in it for several hours the...

You may notice a small drop in performance moving up to the PCX :D

Re: Does it do steep grades?

The laws of physics dictate that every vehicle will be slower whilst climbing a steep hill when compared to their speed on the flat - and the PCX is no exception. So the question becomes "how much of a speed drop is acceptable?" Not sure what the speed limit is for you, but in my parts - i...

Excellent news. I think we'd be pretty safe in writing that symptom/fix into the PCX "book of knowledge".

Re: Oil/gear oil

The final drive oil comes out looking as good as it went in - so hardly has a hard life. I changed my final drive oil just the other day because it hadn't been done for a while. As we all know, all engine oil quickly turns black in car or bike engines - but the engine oil I'd previously used in the...

Re: 2011 PCX 125 from.... Germany!

When I removed mine I (eventually) put the bolts back in from the top (for weather sealing). Sitting on the bolt heads was something I could feel but other than that "not a biggie". If the bolt heads weren't there then it wouldn't feel any different to any other part of the seat. Not sure ...

Re: Ordering From Biker Bits.

I've ordered from them twice - nothing but good things to say about them. In the past I've ordered from both BikeBandit and Partzilla but the former isn't shipping internationally due to COVID and the latter seems to have lost the plot on shipping charges down under. BikerzBitz hit the sweet spot - ...

Re: Noob in Need of the expert advice!!

There's a reason why Hondas cost what they do ! Out of interest, before I had even heard of the Honda PCX I went looking online primarily searching for Vespas (being the only name I knew). I had a budget - but the only models that would fit were only 50cc - and I'd read that 50cc was something to b...

Re: 2011 PCX 125 from.... Germany!

From the "for what it's worth" department, I took the hump off mine for a couple of years. If you don't put a couple of bolts in the holes then rain will get into the center storage compartment. Another option for a quick/easy job is to cover the bolt hole and the larger hole in the vinyl ...

As a side note - don't know if this is an issue for you good folks, but in my parts doing mods like that would 100% invalidate my insurance.

Re: LIKE speed run & pancakes en plein air!

About the only pancakes on offer around my here are from McDonald's. I usually put on the butter - followed by strawberry jam - and then the syrup. Fun fact: it appears that it's technically impossible to use too much syrup ;) My scoot is proving it's worth at the moment - McDonalds are running a Mo...

Re: Belt Squeal at low speed

Fingers crossed for you! That front bolt on the black cover is the trickiest for sure. I've always managed to get it out without taking the side cover off (heck - I don't even know how to take the side cover off -- never done it) - but it's definitely fiddly, with very little extra room. I even cont...

Variator plates arrived from Bikerbitz this morning - little over 3 weeks surface mail, no duty to pay :) Got other things on but now I suppose I will have to find time to do it - getting cold out there now. Great news! For what it's worth, personally, I find that it's one of those jobs that I hate...

I love the hatred for anything Original in this group. I don't "hate" it; By your own declaration you're a "form over function kinda guy" and in contrast, I'm a "don't fix it if it ain't broke" kinda guy. Many here have replaced many parts (windscreen, variator, shocks...

https://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/10/t-magazine/london-taxi-test-knowledge.html Fabulous article, really enjoyed reading that. For sure. I can kinda relate to it in a small way - we often get stop/start traffic flows around peak times - I usually just avoid them, but sometime's I have no choice. Usua...
