Re: What took so long? $$$$

Electric motors are pretty well perfected these days and most sensors are electric..ie throttle position sensore and IAC valves and a host of others that stand up to heat for many years. Lest not forget computers have been running our vehicles for decades. Dropping in a small motor could be a lot s...

Re: Safe to start the bike in temps under 15F with 10w30?

Not that I really plan on riding much in these extreme temps, but after taking a look at this chart from the manual, i was wondering, is it safe to start the bike in temps under about 15F? It looks like this is where the chart ends for the recommended oils. In a word, yes. In order to meet SAE qual...

Re: What took so long? $$$$

Gotta love this concept and finally the technology seems to be ready for mass production, but will it be able to out compete the futuristic electric motor cars.? Only time will tell but this should have been out there a long time ago. I remember reading about this concept ten years ago.. Not really...

Re: Upgrade front brakes - best replacements

I've had to stop suddenly due to cars pulling out in front of me at 40mph and it worked fine. Still, they could be better. The ABS fitted to the new PCX works great but users are reporting it makes buzzing noises soon after starting the bike and often during riding as it 'calibrates' itself or such...

Re: Tread depth

I just installed Michelin City Grips on my PCX and only have about 100 miles on them so far. Tires here in the US are typically measured in 32nds of an inch (0.03125" or 0,8mm). My rear CG has 6/32" or about 4.8mm, and the front has 5/32". Car tires here often have 10/32"-11/32&q...

Re: Fuel economy drop after changing rear tyre

Here's a diagram of the rear wheel parts and their orientations. I recently removed my rear wheel and there's really not a whole lot that can bugger up the re-installation other than getting the spacers out of order or in the wrong orientation (for example, part #3 could be turned around on the axle...

Re: I'm usually averaging around 88mpg. Is this normal?

Sounds about right for your riding style. I remember reading Honda's specs for the Innova (the model bridging the Super Cub to the PCX) putting the most fuel efficient speed at 33 mph, and I think the PCX's engine is probably similar (although I haven't seen anything official in print). A big reason...

Re: Helmet colors?

Not really trying to flip it. I'll actually be selling it at a loss, but it will be an overall gain for me in the end. It will be New-In-Box and never worn, so I'm going to ask about 65% of the current new price just to move it. Unfortunately, those are the only two color choices for the most common...

Helmet colors?

Kind of an informal poll, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post or not?

I want to buy and then immediately resell a helmet.
Which of these two color schemes do you think will be easier to resell?

Re: biggest Topbox size for PCX

I like the looks of the Shad39 the most. Its modern looking and not shaped like a box which does not fit a PCX at all. I agree! I haven't seen anyone else's post regarding top boxes and MPG, but I think the rounded shape helps with fuel economy too. I keep my SH39 on all the time and last summer (2...

Re: New riding pants!

First ride report: Took them on a 95 mile ride up to the RMNP area and back. Even though they're all black they stayed cool enough to remain comfortable. We started the ride around 75°F and it was around 72°F when we reached Estes Park. There's no elastic ankle cuff so I'm sure that helped a bit wit...

Re: biggest Topbox size for PCX

I ended up getting the Shad SH39 because I thought the styling more closely matched that of the PCX compared to the similar-sized Givi boxes. The Shad SH40 Cargo was a close 2nd only because it's designed to carry extra stuff on top (not as swoopy in the styling, though). Almost everything I've ever...

Re: New riding pants!

I actually bought some Fox dirt riding pants made of Kevlar and heavy duty Cordura, but they have no pads. I could wear knee pads underneath them, but I don't know if I could find anything to use as hip pads that would still allow the pants to fit. They're nice pants (I bought them used, in good con...

New riding pants!

I've ordered two different pair of riding pants: one pair of overpants for cooler weather, and one pair of mesh pants for warmer riding. The overpants arrived today, so here's a pre-ride review. The overpants are FirstGear's HT Overpants Shell , currently on closeout from several vendors. The closeo...

Re: New helmet and jacket

I'm almost all geared up! I've got two pairs of riding pants arriving soon. One is padded overpants to go over jeans, and the other is padded mesh pants to go over shorts. I'll review those in a "new pants" post. I also bought a pair of Kevlar-&-Cordura dirt racing pants, but they're u...

Re: New helmet and jacket

Another ride, this time in wider extremes. It was 78F and sunny when I left the house, so I only wore a t-shirt under the jacket. The venting (for both pieces) was good and kept me comfortable. The ride home was 60F and my bare arms got a bit chilled inside the jacket (I left all of the jacket vents...

Re: New helmet and jacket

Finally got a chance to give the helmet-&-jacket combo a ride. It was sunny and around 72°F. Under the jacket I had a long sleeve shirt with a t-shirt under that. The first thing I noticed was the hi-viz reflection on the instrument panel and chrome! It's very glow-y!! o_O With all of the zipper...

Re: Heated Jacket (HomeDepot?)

Going back to see if I can find the beanie. Say's its thin and wicks moisture ideal for comfort under a hard hat. How much difference would a motorcycle helmet make? From my own experience, it'd better be really thin! I have several "thin" beanies that no way fit inside a helmet! The only...
