Re: Need noise
Should I place one hole in the middle , where you drilled 3 of them? Btw how deep should i drill? ( about 5-10mm) I'm curious also as to the exact drill spot, but I guess I don't take verbal directions all that well. If it is not too much trouble, maybe you could use Paint to put a circle where the...

LOL It's all good!
I love this forum; lots of experience here to help newbies, while they pass upwards what they learn (and remind us of our past hard knocks)

Re: How do I know if I need a new Belt?
Drive belts should be replaced right before they break. Absent that clairvoyance; keep a spare at hand. This is terrible advice. The first sentence would be if it were intended as advice. It was not. The second sentence was modifying the first to show that no one can know when a belt would break an...

Re: How do I know if I need a new Belt?
All good points. Here is one more: If the bike is mostly ridden at or near top speed, then the sides of the belt could become slightly concave (relative to the circumference edges) from running on the circumference of the variator, making any measurement unreliable as the belt would have more wear t...

Re: How do I know if I need a new Belt?
Thanks for correcting my method of belt measurement gn2. It is a misnomer for Honda to call it the belt "width" - it isn't. It is the measurement of two divergent oblique angles at the belt's circumference. But no one would call it that so it's "width". I measured again according...

For sure... Eons ago I turned a, then acquaintance, now friend, onto a song that he denied could cover the entire side of an album. Later on, I showed him a song that covered both sides from the genius of Ian Anderson. ...so you ride yourselves over the fields, and your wise men don't know how it fe...

Re: Need noise
Yes, but Honda's calculations did not end at the header pipe. Their measurement of the propagation waves would have continued beyond that - how far I do not know of course, but the combination of back pressure, timing, and waves would have included the full system. The physics here are well beyond m...

Re: How do I know if I need a new Belt?
You haven't read the manual where it describes how to measure the belt. Two flat surfaces need to be placed on the angles of the belt and measure the width between the two flat surfaces level with the top edge of the belt. When measured correctly the width is wider than the belt. I did not see that...

Re: Need noise
Any flow inertia is tuned by the header pipe which we are not touching. Once you make it to a muffler (on any engine) there is only trade offs of power vs noise. The louder, the more power/ less pumping loss This was true before it was learned that an exhaust can be tuned to match (or counter-as ne...

Re: How do I know if I need a new Belt?
Drive belts should be replaced right before they break. Absent that clairvoyance; keep a spare at hand. Honda's service intervals should be taken as suggestions, because some of them make no sense at all and it appears they had to fill in the blanks with something so they did. For example on the 201...

The OEM Honda vario with the longer boss does not include a washer between the backplate and the crankshaft spindle.

Re: Is it the transmission?
Well, there are a minimum of two fundamental errors contributing to this. So, fundamentals; check the splines. The 'shop' may have mixed conflicting parts. Lets start with belt alignment; when you pulled the vario off was there a washer behind it? If so, then you should have the shorter boss below. ...

Yuminashi does not supply a back plate with that vario - unless Hawaii is different....Valiant wrote:After noting that the Yuminashi back plate seems to have more clearance...
That should be the OEM Honda backplate.

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
...put it away November last year. It came out of winter storage toward the end of April... It is possible the coolant was below -35°F and solidified or crystallized, which could weaken the gaskets and O-rings. Especially with only .48L capacity in a NH winter. 70/30 mix would work up there. Use on...

Maybe I should at least take a rider safety class...

By golly I will.

Re: Hello! Forza 300 Quirks
LOL, thanks Whitenoise The PCX's vulnerability to wind can not be overstated. Both front and side. It's bodywork, low weight and CG can be challenging for putting a box high in back. Aerodynamics have tradeoffs. Noticing the drop in fuel consumption when the Givi D1136ST was mounted, I began switchi...
