Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT

Big Ruckus and Reflex riders have been mixing sliders with rollers for years..... always use sliders that are at least 3 grams heavier than the rollers so the sliders are always loaded and control the shift points. I've never seen any tip over but if you dropped light sliders in with very HEAVY roll...

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT

Yes, it would help. I think 17gram x 6 (102 gram total) is just too light for the size (diameter) and type of the weights you're using. If you were using all 6 rollers, you could probably run 17 grams per roller and still not top 7000rpm at the shift point. Sliders give a shift point and top end rpm...

Re: That seat 'opener damper'

Playing around with the damper I found that it doesn't use full stroke of the piston..... in closing the seat, it moves a little over 14mm (by the seal wear marks on the piston rod) but I can compress it to ~20mm (in a padded vice). So, our damper has a 20mm stroke and is using about 14-15mm or ~75%...

Re: That seat 'opener damper'

well it is stubby! overall length, center to center of the ball sockets is 110mm... that IS the extended length, by the way (d'oh! .... no wonder I couldn't extend it) compressed length is 96mm, so <15mm travel. if you look at the pics I posted you'll also see a slight wear mark where the damper cyl...

Re: Forza Shocks

here's my somewhat dated contact information for custom shocks by YSS USA: Klaus Huenecke "Klaus Huenecke" <sales@yssusa.com> 732-786-9777 This was from 2012 but at least the email should still be good..... Klaus was very helpful and had experience with several different major suspension b...

Re: That seat 'opener damper'

I mean I cannot physically exert enough pull or grip to extend the damn thing using gloves and common tools. I don't want to destroy it by just clamping it in a vice and prying it open. I don't have ball fittings to match the sockets on each end (they are identical).... they are also plastic ...

Eh, so far I haven't been able to move it.....that sucker is strong! :(
I'll see what I can do to extend it.

Re: Forza Shocks

If you need a slightly shorter shock, you should try to contact YSS USA. They helped us configure a custom replacement shock for the Big Ruckus, which used an 18" long mono-shock. By using different length clevis and rod end eyelets with standard shock bodies and components, they said they coul...

Re: That seat 'opener damper'

a different perspective....

It appears to me that the damper is strong enough, but needs a few more millimeters of reach? Maybe 0.5 "?

If the damper could increase the seat's open angle by 5-8 degrees, more of the weight would be over the hinge and less on the damper?

Re: Forza Shocks

Have you tried backing off the preload on the OEM shocks? It won't give it a lower parked profile but it will allow a bit more sag, maybe as much as an inch or so, when loaded with a rider's weight. The stock setting is the middle position so try it in the lowest position (you'll need a Forza shock ...

some additional (useless?) info on the seat damper..... Here are two pics of my spare seat damper from the salvaged Forza: http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r154/BRed1/IMG_20150304_164418783.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r154/BRed1/IMG_20150304_164326722.jpg as the pic shows, the damper is...

Re: Final Drive Oil

It seems unusual but it's really not....
the Big Ruckus manual specifies either HP4M (I think that means w/molybdenum?) OR #90W gear oil for it's final drive.

The URAL uses motor oil in its crankcase and separate 4-spd transmission (but it uses gear oil in it's final drive).
Go figure.....

Re: Final Drive Oil

Mine says HP4M 4-stroke motor oil or equivalent.....
same spec as your pic shows.

on how much, it says pour oil in the filler hole until it comes out the check hole.

Re: Tuned / Modified Honda Forza 300 (NSS300A) From Thailand

The scoot is in "park" mode with rear shock lowered and out-riggers deployed....
fire up the engine and the dual out-riggers retract and the air-lift suspension system lifts the rear of the scoot to travel height, giving it more bottom clearance (but not a whole lot more.)

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT

Actually all the graphs I've posted so far are of various Big Ruckus or Reflex 250s I've tuned over the last 8 years.... I still haven't wired the Veypor harness into the Forza yet. I suspect the stock Forza will look similar to the above graphs of a Big Ruckus running 126 gram weights, based of the...

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT

I think we're tuning for two different purposes.... you're tuning the PCX to push the upper limits of the stock setup and I just want to change the time when certain things in the shift cycle occur. Here are a couple of pics from the DR PULLEY website: http://www.unionmaterial.com/images/drpulleysli...

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT

I have to doubt it when it comes to the Honda 249cc or 279cc engines, in view of the fact that some 23x18 rollers are 1.5mm larger than sliders.... you can visually see they're taller at any point along the ramp. Of course there are oversized rollers that will also increase gearing. But at the expe...

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT

I will confess that I have no experience with the PCX variator, but I've tuned a few dozen Honda 249cc and more than a few Kymco 250 variators, all using 23x18 weights and the results from the Veypor tuning computer and it's graphs were fairly consistent. I'm not disputing your statement but I would...

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT

Sliders definitely do NOT add to both ends of the gearing range. Sliders always gear the variator DOWN because of their lower profile..... when they reach the end of the ramps, they always produce a lower top gear than can be achieved with rollers. Every test I've done has confirmed this, in spite o...
