Re: 2013 PCX150 w/7000 miles

The price certainly raises an eyebrow given how recent it is.

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?

Yea, they told me sometimes in September but they also sounded like idiots. One didn't know what the pcx was when I came in. One said "probably $5000" when I pointed to the forza and asked how much bc it was the only one without a price tag. Does anyone know a definite date? Because they ...

Honda CBF125 averages higher than the PCX125, the Grom125 does even better http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/cbf125 http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/pcx125 http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/grom_125 The French website Scooter Station places the PCX at number 7 in the 2013 scooter fu...

Re: Riding Tips

The downside to a CVT is increased friction in the transmission and higher fuel consumption . Given that one of the benefits is that the engine tends to run at a more efficient rpm it cancels out a bit, but given the increased ease of use in traffic its a small price to pay. Erm, kind of hard to im...

Re: Riding Tips

Never understood the concept of laying your bike down on its side to try to get it to stop when rubber should have better traction than metal and plastic. Maybe if I'm ducking underneath a Matson truck, but other than that:D... I just completed the MSF BRC Course last week, and I'm looking forward t...

Re: Top Case Recommendation & underseat space?

No equation changing moment really Calm down about the loss of your peddely That was hypothetical, it was a $250 Schwinn that was stolen. My living situation however is real. Why not secure it as much as practical(i.e. short of converting it into a trike so it doesn't fit into a van)? It's around $...

Re: Top Case Recommendation & underseat space?

Me too, a peddler :x right outside a local market whilst buying a bag of tatters. Had to walk them home. Are you traumatised? I wasn't. I kind of moved on a teeny bit in the intervening 45 years. Not all my life's choices are based around it now. Oh? Would you base your choice on securing one of th...

Re: Top Case Recommendation & underseat space?

Funnily enough, I don't watch enough TV to know about that show other than it's filmed in Hawaii... just like Baywatch:D. The problem isn't hard to grasp. We're on an island. That means limited space. That space is reserved for violent criminals(or so the theory goes). That leaves convicted felons ...

Re: Top Case Recommendation & underseat space?

I'd suggest ditching the classic briefcase for a set of Tucano/Urbano panniers... Will give you quite a bit of extra room-one for your work things and one for your security measures.. How would those work when I detach one? Would the other one stay on, or would it just be completely loose? Also hav...

Re: 2015 pcx 150 or Forza?

Heh, sounds pretty much exactly like my situation, only my school commute is about 5 miles with about a mile of that uphill, and work is just across the intersection. I also drooled over the Forza for quite a bit, but I figure maybe above $5,000 is a bit much for a first ride, especially after deale...

Re: Top Case Recommendation & underseat space?

I started a thread about which helmets will or will not fit under the seat a while back. Run a search on it. The riding position is fairly upright as opposed to some bicycles, so I would try the backpack a few times before you write the idea off. Take your helmet to the dealership and try it out (i...

Top Case Recommendation & underseat space?

Hi all, I'll be taking my MSF BRC in a few days and wanted to get a solid idea of what to buy for accessories. My security will include a 13mm 6.5" Protector chain, 2 Squire SS50CS Stronghold High Security padlock, an Abus 83WP/53 Weatherproof House-Key padlock(to lock the cover), and a Dowco W...

Re: Security Recommendation for 2015 PCX?

Well, both the tracker and microdot does nothing to stop thieves from taking it in the first place. However, I hear police for the most part have issues with charging chop shops with any crime because they can't determine that the parts are actually stolen. I think $200 for such a gizmo might be wor...

Re: Security Recommendation for 2015 PCX?

Hmm, I'm considering not locking the thing to anything solid at all. From what I understand, the 2015 model is expected in July, but it may well be delayed for several months. I figure if someone steals it and my insurance pays me out, I can then go for the 2015 model and chain that one to an anchor...

Re: Security Recommendation for 2015 PCX?

Eh, rather than a worry, I'd call it an inconvenience. To be honest, it wouldn't be too hard to buy a small enough scooter to fit in the 70-inch long elevator(fairly small, can't cram the PCX in there). But on the other hand, I don't understand why I have to live in fear and let criminals own the pl...

Re: Security Recommendation for 2015 PCX?

I suspect that officially, it's not allowed. Unofficially, the board president insists that he doesn't see anyone having a problem with it(plus it was his suggestion, and I have an electronic record of that in an email). My concern is whether or not I would be fined for it if a stupid or brazen thie...

Re: Security Recommendation for 2015 PCX?

There are several removable anchor options that people use in rented properties (still need permission if the land is not yours). Some use small 'fixed' anchors that have the bolts covered when the thick chain is looped through, but there are others that have two parts - one with four bolts into co...

Re: Security Recommendation for 2015 PCX?

At work it's stored in an underground carpark, no security not even steering lock. At home it's stored on a drive chained to the tow-bar of my car (which is no longer used). I always cover it up as even in good weather birds seem to have a liking for splatting it (or the cover!). Well, it IS an ope...
