Seat recovering ‘how to’ guide

Can anyone point me to a ‘how to’ guide to recover my 2013 PCX bike seat? It’s another avenue I’m exploring as an alternative approach to the useful de-humping thread, which tackles the problem from underneath. I would be really useful to see what the 2013 PCX seat looks like from above when the old...

Re: PCX seat hump removal

Are the original (now missing) pictures posted by sendler2112 still available anywhere to illustrate the de-humping process, please? I think I get the idea from kiapolo1887 pictures but, as they say, a picture paints a thousand words. And at 180cm height I could do with the additional legroom.

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

i would be too. Looks like it should have come from the factory. Cool! And yeah - the difference in the reds is pretty darn subtle. Thanks for your comments. Never having replaced belly panels before, it took a bit of manoeuvring to fit the first panel, only to discover that there were no metal cli...

New black belly panels now fitted. A new experience and I’m happy with the results.

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

Just received some new black belly panels for my PCX and will be fitting them next week when I get back from holiday. Out of interest, the seller was king enough to send me a part in Candy Red to compare against my Pearl Sienna Red... I just wanted to see how they compared. Not much difference reall...

Hmmm. As in the link...? Yep, I do realise that.
I don’t believe Kawasaki do a 400 scooter...but they do a J300, and it’s almost identical to the 300 Kymco, so kind of endorses Kymco scooters, don’t you think.

Re: Repairing scraped paint on Forza fairing

Worth checking out a few vendors in Asia, too. BikerzBitz have always been great as well as a few Thai based sellers on eBay, such as “bikeqwerty”. I have bought a few things from the latter recently and ‘Mike’ was very amenable to deals and offers. For me in the UK it worked out quite a bit cheaper...

Re: Whats not to like.. really!

The Kawasaki J300 is basically a clone on the Kymco 300 scooter, I think - but cheaper. Compares very well to the Forza 300 and XMAX 300.

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

Just because I am that type of person, I would do something about the bolts as well. In fact, you might consider a quick wire brush on the bolts behind that cover area, and then some kind of protection for them. Nothing worse than trying to get rusted bolts off. When I was in the military we used Z...

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

Just an update. Vario cover rubbed down and several coats of Hammerite smooth silver. Couldn’t be more pleased with the results. What a transformation. Good as new! (Excuse the foot :D )

Re: Re-use or replace?

I’ll see what I can get one for online. If it’s not too much I think I’ll get a new one. There is so much rust on the one I have removed. No doubt the original one fitted on the production line 6 years ago.

Re-use or replace?

I you can see I have removed the vario cover to rub down and respray the flaky paint. As advised I intended reusing the gasket when I refit it. Now that I have seen it it looks to me like it’s seen better days and I should replace it? Having no real experience of such things, reuse or replace?

Re: Idling Stop works intermittently

I stopped using the idle start on my 2013 model PCX after about 6 months. I began having problems starting the bike and it seemed quite clear my battery was very run down, which made no sense. To cut a long story short, I read about reported issues with the idle start running down the battery, and s...

Thanks. Sounds like a plan, so I’ve ordered smooth silver. How smooth is down to me, though, I guess.

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

Thanks, gn2. That aside...although I would like to know which is the correct replacement part if possible...I got stuck into the vario cover in situ just to see what was under the bubbly paint. Needless to say, the loose paint came off quite easily - combination of scraping with a screwdriver and sa...

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

From the start of this thread I have been sourcing parts just in case I decided to get a new OEM vario cover. I have a great price from a Thai seller I have used a few times before - £54.99 inc shipping (obviously import duties on top). But we have an issue over part numbers. The eBay seller will su...
