Rather put that money towards a more expensive scooter.

Re: fuel economy improvements

Yes but I only tested it for about 3km so far. Nice and smooth. Dunno if I'm imagining it but the rpm drops more when easing off the throttle.
I like it.

Re: fuel economy improvements

Guys your limiting your minds. The stock variator has ramps that don't extend all the way out at a conservative angle alon with a conservative angle on the drive face. This means the belt reaches the top of he pulley fairly quickly. In comparison most aftermarket variators have different angles on ...

Re: fuel economy improvements

What diameter is the Yuminashi variator? The reason I ask is because I measured the stock variator when I fitted my sliders yesterday and it is 117mm. There is no room for the belt to run higher on the front pulley. The only way to increase gearing using stock pulleys now would be to use a shorter b...

If I go over bumps fast enough that the stock shocks bottom out, will it damage anything?
How much less likely would the YSS shocks bottom out?

Re: New bloke. Hello!!

I've recently done a road trip 600km there and 600km back. I was amazed at the stability of the PCX150. I found myself deliberately passing oncoming trucks at 110km/h (speedo) a bit closer each time to see if I could feel the suction that I usually feel when in my car. But nothing. The scoot was roc...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt

I just realised that it is possible that shortening the boss won't work.
That would be the case if the inner pulley butts up against the outer pulley before max gearing is reached.
If/when I eventually get my sliders I'll take a close look at the pulleys to see how much leeway there is.

All the electrics I have seen have hub motors. I wonder why this one is different.

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt

Good question. I figure that either way any version of the pcx is more likely to push an extra 3.9% in gearing than the yuminashi kit being 20.5 for the pcx 125 v1 or 12.8 for the pcx 150 esp. In real world changes that's from 79mph to 82mph instead of to 89mph in my case. I don't believe that I ha...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt

If anything, these bikes are prone to chatter on accel from a stop due to the front pulley opening up too wide and losing contact with the belt. There is no more low gear to be had by adding any spacers. . Milling the boss after installing sliders will increase top gear by pushing the belt all the ...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt

I came in a bit late on this . what's the boss? The boss is the cylindrical piece that you tighten the outer front pulley onto. Shortening the boss increases the min and max gearing. Adding a spacer decreases it. In my case, cost as well as inconvenience of shipping is a factor. So I would rather m...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt

So either kit provides a gear up of 5.1 percent. That will take a 68 mph top speed to 71.5. No... Kitako gives 3.9% while Yuminashi gives 12.8%. http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1981&start=0 I have looked at my stock setup but have not yet analysed and calculated what can be achi...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt

That is, one should use 10% lighter rollers when increasing engine power by 10%. Probably the opposite. If the torque slot is more active with increasing power, pulling the gearing lower constantly, you would need heavier weights to keep the same rpm that you had before. That is what I said a...

I would be curious to know why you choose a PCX125 over the PCX150.
