Michelin Power Pure SC Front 120/80-14 Scooter Tire

Post by Heedehcheenuh »

Has anyone tried one before I purchase it. Thinking of using it as my new rear tire. Yes it is a front but I do not corner race.

Had the wrong size tire listed. I meant to put the 150/70-14 size. Has anybody tried this tire for the rear and what mods are needed to run it?

I'm missing something here....why are you wanting to use a front tire on the rear? Why not buy the proper rear Michelin to use on the rear of your scooter?
I have a rear PP Michelin on my Kymco - works great.

I wrote the wrong size on the title and the 150/70-14 City Grip is the rear tire. I can not change the title.

That is a pretty big tire for the rear of a PCX. Whether it is for the front or rear, it is still too big to fit properly without scraping against something. I don't think anyone has gone up that much on a PCX.

Here is a quote from someone else on the forum. I will include the link. It concerns tires. It should answer many of your questions.

"140/70-14 is the biggest that will fit on the rear and it will increase your top speed by 3%."

Thanks Mel46. I will research the 150/70-14 at the same time. The new 150/70-14 just came out as to the older 140/70-14. If I measure correct it may work but the 140/70-14 seems to be ok but …. is there any difference from the 2015-2018 models and the first gens? The splash guard seems to be the main issue and it may can be removed or relocated to fit. Hope these links work:

Just food for thought about doing the upgrade. I am not into the quickness of the PCX150 but more into the long ride cruise on the open back roads. Even after the tire change I would still have to calculate the right roller weights after the swap. I went back to 18g rollers and have no problems. The 13g rollers wore out to fast after 2000 miles on them. They dropped in weight down to 12.7g average. I may get 15g and 14g rollers after the tire change to see what happens.

The 150/70-14 may be a big problem if those stats are correct. A 50% difference in width could have them rubbing up against the swingarm, the airbox, the fender, and where ever else things from the road can get caught up in there.

Just ordered the 100/90-14 Mich City Grip. Funding is super tight right now. Wife used her card to help me get it. Now I have to get her put on. These disabled hands will not do smh.

New tire is on. What is the torque settings for the arm? I went with 36ftlbs (muffler listing) and 85ftlbs for axel nut. But there was no listing for the arm to block screws/bolts.
