Honda Canada no longer selling the PCX

Post by xixon »

I went to the Honda.ca website to see what's up for 2019....and found it's not the PCX, as the only "scooter" they offer is the Ruckus 50cc

I guess sales were not good for the PCX, or maybe just a better profit margin on the Ruckus, as it was only a few hundred dollars less than the PCX

So I guess if people want a PCX they have to go across the border, buy one, and ride it back across the border. Interesting. Maybe the Honda people think that there is little need for a PCX in such a big, wild, wide-open country. After all, if you want to take your bike to the next town you will have to carry extra gas.

That is a shame . . ..

I'd be delighted if more scooters were offered and huge gas guzzling polluting SUVs were becoming in short supply as people continue to realize the urgent need to help fight global warming.

But reality is what it is . . .. :?

Maybe check into an SMax?

https://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/de ... C&catId=16

I see that they are more expensive in Canada than the U.S. but definitely worth a look and comparable to the PCX . . . yet different. I seriously considered one but when I was looking for a scoot to replace my PCX I needed one that could do some moderate "off roading" as well so I bought a Zuma 125. The SMax is what I would consider a road machine. Long story short go check one out at a dealer. The seat and foot space will make or break the deal for you. Everything else is really quite brilliant.

As far as Yamaha quality I'm quite pleased with my Zuma 125 and XMax 300. And their owners manuals are available on .pdf in case you want to read up on their products first or you lose the one that comes in print with your machine. Like Honda, you can get parts online from a variety of sources.

FWIW Yamaha and Honda are currently working in together on electric powered future products. So in a small way by buying a Yamaha you are still in the Honda world.

Gator Greg provided some great day and night video reviews here with his recent purchase. That thing will haul . . .. Worth a look. 8)

What % of modern scooter owners ever use their 2yr warranty?

whether you care about the warranty or not, it is just a fact. In addition to that there may be special tools and parts you can't buy up in Canada either. The simple reason is there is there is no place in the Honda Canada warranty system for the 19 PCX designation. I certainly would discuss it with a canadian dealer before you go down to the United States and bought a PCX.

It would be difficult to register a USA bike in Canada.
DOT rules including speedometer (Kph-Mph), signal lite placement, etc. etc.
As far as 'more expensive' goes-our $ is only worth about 75% of yours.

Good question!

For the first time in about 32 years Kawasaki has discontinued production of the KLR 650. They are selling off leftover 2018 inventory. :o

You can be more successful by doing things slowly and steadily than by acting quickly and carelessly.

I was surprised this afternoon as my wife and I were returning home from grocery shopping. A Royal Enfield pulled up right beside us. I didn't see what size of engine it had but the exhaust pipes were on both sides. It reminded me of the old Honda 500s, except for those gold colored rear shocks.

It would have been either the 650 Continental GT or the 650 Interceptor.
Fairly new models designed in the UK in Royal Enfield's new technology centre.
Gorgeous things, saw my first one in the flesh today, an Interceptor in the "orange crush" colour scheme. Lovely.

It must have been the 650 Interceptor. It had a red and black tank with "Royal Enfield" in bold letters.

It definitely reminded me of the old air cooled engine days, not that I ever had any problems with air cooled engines...except in the summertime in New Orleans. Then I had to make sure the bike was not sitting at a traffic stop for more than a couple of minutes. Not only did the engine not get cooling, I didn't get any cooling either! All in all though, I really enjoyed the Hondas I owned. They had a lot of horses for little bikes...and they started without any problems. (I didn't like the chain, but it was all part of it, so I got use to checking, oiling, tightening, etc.)

Very simple design, easy maintenance.
