Remove panels on 2018 (UK) model.

Post by Medicpcx »

Hello all,
Does anyone have a guide for the 2018 UK model of the PCX especially relating to removing panels so I can run wiring front front to back as want to see if I can save some money by doing it myself.

Doing what, replacing wiring or adding on?
In either case, at least on older models, you have to remove all of the panel from the rear up to where you want to make modifications...unless you are only adding to the front lights. In that case you can remove the seat and gas cap panel in the center and feef wires through to either the battery or to a tap in point.

Adding new wiring circuit involving going from front to back. I understand I probably will need to remove most panels but just want a guide on what order this will be in. As if I can do it myself it will half the projects cost compared with getting a professional to do it.

If you have a service manual it will tell you the order needed in order to remove panels successfully. I have 2013 models which have differences as opposed to your year model. On mine you have to start with the back and move forward.

@Mel46 do you know where I would look to get a service manual as I have tried searching google, ebay and amazon with no luck.

Try David silver spares, they had a UK manual for past models for about £45 delivered.
Some other options:
https://www.repairmanual.com/product/ho ... ce-manual/ < I would be wary of this as not sure cyclepedia is to be relied on.
http://www.service-shop-repair-manual.c ... ir-manual/ < US 2019 model and shipping is horendous to the UK!

I believe I only have a pdf for a 2011 and one that says 2013-2017, which must mean that they have added pages for the 2015-2017 because they are different.

For 2018 and 2019 they made body changes but I am not sure when they redesigned the engine.

All sorted after contacting Honda direct they informed me of a system called Maris where they store all manuals but its done bit by bit. Payed 10EUR for 1 hour access and was able to get all the information I needed.

Great. Glad you found a solution. It still might be beneficial if you had a service manual of your own for future questions and needs. Still. I am glad you found a solution now.

FYI, I don't know if they have changed it but on previous models all wiring ran along the right frame and had plugin sections for easy change out. When I bought my bike a mouse had made itself at home in the tail light area, and the wiring had been chewed up by it. The Honda dealer took the bike in, swapped out the problem harness, and I was back on the road in no time.
