Retrofitting to European Lighting

Post by pcx888 »

I was wondering did anyone change there 2011 to 2013 pcx. I European flush mount tail signals and got rid of front turn signals. I hate the U.S. bunny style ears.

Hmmm...my 2013 model looks just like the 2011 model, aside from the gas tank access lid flipping the opposite direction. If you are in the United States you will see that the changes came in the 2015 model.

I found the parts needed but too expensive to retrofit. 100.00 for headlamp assembly. Another 60.00 for the black bottom panel below the center console to cover rabbet ears cutout. and 150.00 to replace rear fender and rear turn signal assembly.

The turn signal stalks were required by the government because the bike was considered too narrow by a few inches. You will find some motorcycles fitted with them as well.

If you really want to remove them you might be able to locate some panels at Powerbypcx.com
Price is always a factor when you want to modify a bike.

I retrofitted the EU light sockets on my 2013 Honda pcx by buying the EU headlight harness and drilling out the holes for the bulbs on the headlight housing. I had to use some hot glue on the running lights since they would fall out every now and then.

That's what the bottom ones are? Hmm...considering that the headlights come on automatically when the bike is started, why do we need those??
Never mind. I wired mine into the headlights anyway. It just seemed logical.

2011,2012,2013 model had to have bunny ear indicators. Due to bike being too narrow. By a couple of inches. So the rest of the world bikes didn't have them. Stupid regulations. and the start and stop switch.

Late reply, but the second picture is of the driving lights. I just made the hole in the middle of the circle depression in the plastic. I did have to use hot glue otherwise the lights will fall out.

I just wanted everyone on this thread to know that on my 2013, which has LED lights everywhere except in the main headlights, when the battery is low the headlights flicker as you idle, while the LED lights are steady. So, if you start to notice the flickering a lot at lights, chances are good that your battery is having a problem keeping up with the demand. Put the battery on a charger, but keep an eye on it for the inevitable slow starting before the battery gives up on you.

Neither of my off-brand batteries lasted much more than a year before they started giving me the indication that they were not up to the task any more.

I had the same issue when I had the high draw LED headlights on my 2013 PCX. Since I could never get a good light pattern out of them, along with the flickering, I went back to halogen light bulbs.

Halogen light bulbs for the headlights, the rest are still LED.
