Anyone ever try to learn Mandarin or Cantonese??

Just curious what your observations are if you did. I speak Cantonese, I am not fluent but can speak every word perfect since I got the tones down. To me the Chinese is easier than Russian since the words are short. Very few words have more than 2 syllables unlike Russian which has some long as@ words.
